Boulders is my #2 most despised/hated offroading area in AZ that I have attempted to ride on. It's very whooped-out and is dominated by M/C width trails.

I don't know why you chose this area or what your goals are, and I believe you are from California, but I would recommend the Wickenburg Box Canyon area as a more fun place to ride. You can also find places to either detour around Box Canyon, or rise up out of it to the north and east, and explore the desert all the way out to Stanton AZ. I'm not sure how much time you have to study the maps, but I learned all the best riding routes through lots of trial and error.

Back to Lake Pleasant if you're not interested in Wickenburg Box Canyon, there's always Castle Hot Springs Road and Cow Creek Road, where you will see many other riders.

Thanks
This is exactly what we were looking for.
We’ll take your Wickenburg / Lake Pleasant recommendation and roll with that.
Also we were looking at: Google Maps

We were in Sturgis a year ago and found the best area by asking around locally.
People invited us on runs not written up nor mentioned anyplace else. Made a huge difference in the success of our trip.

We were going to head up to Duck Creek but it won’t open for another month+.

Asking ahead saved us a world of grief at Moab and Coral Pink too.

I actually love the boulders but I tend to drive my X3 like I'm on my dirt bike.

There are alot of trails out there that will keep you close to camp then there are some that you can take that lead to places like Crown King or to the west up to Wickenburg. I've also gone from the boulders west to vulture mine .

I've been wanting to do a ride from the boulders to Crown King .hint hint ... It's the best destination in the Bradshaw mountains a good meal and cold one at the saloon is just the place for a guy with a screen name of Dive Bar Casanova .

Just a heads up they blocked some of the trails behind lake pleasant. Also some of the area is closed due to Eagle nesting. I'm sure there are some accessible trails still open just not sure exactly. Lake pleasant to Crown King is a popular run there are a couple of different ways to do it . Always someone on the trail also. Heres a pic of the saloon in CK.

We've been duners for ever and ever.
It's all the kids wanted to do. Full throttle, fearless.
Well, the kids are gone now and the wife and I are venturing out more to trails. Still love the dunes.
Appreciate the takes and guidance.

We've found a Wednesday arrival usually means we'll find a camping spot. Utah it's Sunday evening/Monday morning BTW.
We check Google earth for spots we can fit the Toyhauler also look for back up spots if they aren't available when we arrive. That does dictate a bit where we can roll to, especially forested areas and access roads with big dips.

Thanks for the takes.

Yumm you will certainly make some friends with that!
I've been going to ck for some time , its my favorite offroad trip that's close to home. I grew up on lake pleasant and knew someday I would be exploring those mountains to the north for yrs to come. Also don't forget get some fugde at the general store .
