I was recently on a trip to Baja and before the trip Super ATV sent me a set of their newly designed trailing arms for the 72" model X3s to test out. No better testing ground than the diverse terrain of Baja. You have rocky roads, whoops, sand, silt, high speed rally roads, and just about everything you can imagine. A good chunk of the route we took in Baja was following the race course used the week before for the Baja 400 and sections are used for the Baja 500 and Baja 1000. As the race was the week before there were sections that had massive whoops, rocks, and were beat up. Perfect for testing the new trailing arms. We covered just over 330 miles.

When I opened the box to check out the new trailing arms and what design changes they made it was immediately obvious. They added gussets in all the important places and also added a metal bracket that connects the bottom and top hub section. I had a set of the original trailing arms and they cracked in the hub section after only a few hundred miles. This area has been addressed with the new design with the additional gussets and the rear section of the hub area now being tied together with the metal bracing. The arms are beefy and looked very nice.

The arms come with sway bar links as Super ATV has a pocket in the trailing arm where the swaybar link mounts versus the tabs used on the stock trailing arms. There is also a pocket where the shock mounts. The shock is still in the same location as the stock trailing arm, but because these trailing arms are a high clearance they went with the pocket to maintain stock geometry.

I was very impressed with how well these arms held up over the 330 plus miles. No dings, cracks, or anything showing any damage or fatigue. I think they got it right with this new design and these are an excellent option for someone that wants a quality trailing arm that won't break the bank.

They looked clean for a little while. By the end of the ride they were nice and dirty.

When are they going to be on

Hopefully soon. @SuperATV will hopefully chime in and give a ETA on when the new trailing arms will be available.

Well worth the wait.

Quick up date: I was in Glamis this past weekend for Camp RZR fun. Put about 140 dune miles on the Super ATV arms while we were there. The new trailing arms handled the abuse of the dunes with ease. Everything is looking good and solid. These are going to be a huge success when they hit the market.

Just got back from 6 days in Glamis. Put another 370 dune miles on the trailing arms. Everything is holding up really well. Super impressed with the new design of the Super ATV trailing arms.

Honestly they look just a nice as the trailing arms that cost almost 3 times as much.

Stock Trailing arms start getting cracks. I got 500 miles out of mine when I noticed the cracks. Mine also is not your normal lite machine as I am over 4K when loaded up. I am having trailing arms made with the rear steering so thats whey I haven't already upgraded the stock trailing arms.

Been putting more miles on the trailing arms. Spent another 7 days in Glamis over the holiday and have over 1,000 miles on the trailing arms. They have been flawless so far.

As soon as the rain stops in So. Cal I am hoping to get some more mileage on them in the desert.

I recommended a set of these to a guy I run with. He had a little issue with one of his stock arms over the weekend.

Do the Walker links work in the new ones?

Not sure if a Walker Link works. The arms come with new links which are longer than stock due to the pocket in the trailing arm the link sits in.

Yes there is clearance for the 2022 rear hubs. I put an Assault (now Super ATV) double shear bracket on my hub. They worked on my 2018 X3, so figured I would go that route again.

I don't think the link itself is long enough and the body of the link would likely hit the trailing arm pocket before it was fully compressed.

Have just over 1k miles in hard AZ desert and had this crack happen last weekend. Did a trail repair and drilled and placed a bolt through it to hold it in place.

This is a ‘21 smart shox model. What replacement options do I have? @SuperATV do you have a replacement now? Any discounts?

I believe Super Atv was working on a Smart Lock version. Hopefully @SuperATV can chime in on whether that is happening.

I have well over 1,000 miles on the newly designed Super ATV trailing arms and they are holding up. My stock trailing arms had a crack in the same area as yours.

I’ve had two sets of these crack on a max. Dune car only. Last set had less than 100 miles on them. No jumping. Basically cause the max doesn’t jump well. Both sets cracked in the same spot. Bottom radius rod spot. These things need beefed up on the bottom or boxed in. Cars outta commission now cause nobody has any. Hopefully no one else has these problems. But I’ve had bad luck.

You talking about the stock trailing arms? The new version of the Super ATV trailing arms are very stout and gussets in all the right places. I have at least 1500 miles on my Super ATV trailing arms with no issues (Baja, dunes, and desert).
