Would I regret this purchase? I'm looking at all brands. I'd prefer to stay at 60". But I don't want a subpar 4wd systems. I'm not a mudder. Just a trail rider and I would like to plow snow. I just don't want to buy a new machine and have to put another $1000 into it for proper 4wd. I just buy a different unit.

I may be wrong, but I'm pretty sure its only the X models (64" wide) that have the Smartloc. I think all the 60" wide models still get the Visco. Same with G2 Commanders.
OP, if you're worried about a proper 4wd I think you're going to need to bump up to the 64" wide X models to get the Smartloc. Or (don't shoot me y'all), start looking at one of the RZR Trail S models to stay at 60" and still have decent 4wd..

Agreed with above, i.e., the 60" class Sport's Visco-Lok vs Smart-Lok being primary driveline difference between that and 64" class Sport X-variant models while sharing same 1000R 100hp rated Rotax v-twin. OTOH, Sport being $4.1k less MSRP vs Sport Xrc might make the difference depending on the offered "deal" and your spend budget. WRT Visco-Lok, my buddy and I found that sufficiently capable on our former 50" class MavT DPS 1000 models even while certainly not on par with Smart-Lok. The 64" class Sport variants include other notable differences including wider track for increased stability and ground clearance for reserve capability in unfamiliar terrain.

I’ve only had issue with viscolok once, even then I was buried in snow up to the doors and wasn’t getting out without shoveling. These are great machines, you won’t regret it. If you’re dead convinced viscolok is total trash you can upgrade to an aftermarket front diff.
Either way they are great machines and last a long time. I haven’t been disappointed in the 10k miles I have on mine

I can get a 2023 Sport DPS for just under $19k out the door. Or if I'm will to go to a 64" machine I could at a 2024 Maverick Sport XXC for just under $27k or a 2024 RZR XP1000 Sport for $22.5k.
I'm guessing my viscolok concerns are probably unwarranted. For the riding I expect to do it will probably work just fine. I saw that superatv had a pin lock conversion for the diff that would run a out $700.
There's a used 2023 Sport XMR with 540 miles on it about an hour away. The owner is asking $20k/obo. He added a swamp donkey? Stereo, windshield and roof.

I’d go for the XXC, better suspension, beadlock wheels, and you’d get the smart lock which would settle your worries about viscolok. It does seem expensive from what I’ve seen around the western us for that package though
I have a sport max and have had zero issues the the visco. I would like to have a diff lock but it hasn’t kept me from going where I want to.
If you modify the Visco or swapping it out, you are going to void warranty of at least that part but depending on dealer, maybe part or entire driveline. At least something to think about and question on purchase.
Everyone's definition of trail riding is not the same. Here for general trail riding and snow plowing the Visco does fine. The Visco machines go everywhere the Smart-Lok machines go and plow snow just fine. I do prefer my smart-lok machines at times but have no problems with my visco machines on the same trails.

Understood. I'm not too worried on the warranty for that part, but the more I'm reading I think visco will be just fine. I not rock crawling or mudding. Simple trail riding. If it becomes an issue down the road maybe I'll revisit and upgrade or upgrade the machine.
This is assuming I don't go used with the XMR.
i live in michigan and own a 2021 sport max. i have gone through 14"+ of fresh snow with zero issues in 4wd. I did upgrade tires and rim size to gain ground clearance and longer tire wear compared to the stock tires/rims. unless you plan on hardcore mud bogging and rock crawling, the viso-lock will do you just fine. Guys on the outlander forum have a similar viso-lock on their machines and plow with them all the time.
If you're not into big mud and big rocks, I think the Visco will be just fine. I would at least go look at the XMR, some used machines are whooped and some are nice.
My buddy bought a 2023 Commander XT 700 with a Visco and he rode everywhere I did at Hatfield McCoy Trails with no issue. That's pretty close to a Sport but with a dump bed. He also plows his huge driveway with it. You have to get into some pretty treacherous terrain before the Visco becomes the limiting factor.

I’m a bit biased, but I’d take the maverick sport over the Polaris competitors. I mean I guess I did already lol. Haven’t seen many Sports since the commander came out. That blue is a great color!
doolin64, I don't know where you live but those prices are high. I would buy this RZR XP 1000 Sport before I would give that much for the leftover Maverick.
This dealer is an hour away from me and their prices are legit. Only extras you would have to pay are whatever taxes you would owe.

Isn't there prep and freight and possibly doc fees?

Polaris official policy is essentially the same as Can Am and I think some manufacturers do have a mandatory delivery charge.
I am just trying to save doolin64 some money. He was quoted $22,500 for the RZR which he can buy at I69 for less than $17,000.
I don't know what the Can Am dealers policy is on the Sport I linked to. Before covid they had the same policy as I69 on no setup and delivery fees but they might have changed.
