Front End Noise!

I’m having a knocking sound in front end on both sides at different times. It happens when going slow or fast. I’ve checked sway bar bolts and all are right. Only thing I can find soo far is if I push the axle (either side) into the diff and pull it out fast it makes the sound I believe I’m hearing when it hits the hub. Doesn’t seem like a normal noise when I drive by people and they look at me like my front end is going to fall apart. Anyone have this problem or know what I’m talking about?

A few people have complained about this and others have said its normal, I have a smartlok car and no noises at all , some others should chime in and let you know ,but your not the first who’s been concerned. You could google it and see what comes up

Welcome from Tucson AZ. Try to eliminate the obvious. I would start with just unbolting the sway bar, to see if that is or isn't it. Another member complained about a similar front end noise, took it to the dealer, and I believe they tightened the sway bar clamps, or something on the sway bar, I can't remember.

WELL KNOWN issue we all have been saying for months. Even so much that Shock Therapy has created a product to fix the issue. If you wanted a perfect vehicle a sxs is NOT what you are looking for. You might want to look into a hand made Roll Royce. 30k financed toy with limited production umbers WILL NOT be anywhere near perfect.

Before bitching about what you think you paid for , think about what you actually bought... an off road machine. Just because these cost as much as new trucks and cars doesn’t mean they are held to the same quality control . It’s one loose bolt.... relax. I assume this is your first sxs other than a old rhino or something of that nature. YOU should have checked every nut and bolt you could easily get at yourself before you went riding. A simple search of issues would yield the issues with the links . Do some research learn the issues and know how to fix your own machine when it breaks, and it will break. You don’t want to be the guy on the side of the trail bitching about how much you paid for a machine and just have a loose nut. Know what I mean?

Thanks for the info! No this isn’t my first 1000. I have had a couple as well as quads, boats and jet skis. I work on all my own stuff including utility and travel trailers as well as my vehicles. I’m no rocket scientist but am handy enough to get through most repairs. The point was not that the bolt was loose, it’s that the bolt is smaller than the hole it goes into. It doesn’t take a genius to realize that it should be the same size on a part that is moving up and down every time the vehicle moves a foot. It is a design flaw and one that could be corrected very easily by changing the bolt they are using on the a-arm link. I have asked family and friends who own trophy truck teams, rock crawling teams as well as recreational riders and all have the same opinion.....design flaw that should be fixed. A solution not being to have to spend more money to make a brand new machine function correctly.

EVERY bolt hole on the X3 is oversized to make up for crappy manufacturing. I do not think they build these cars in a jig, it appears they use the tubing and gusset plates with pop rivits to align then weld it together.
