BRP adds the industry’s first factory-installed turbocharged side-by-side vehicle to its 2015 Can-Am off-road line-up, the Maverick X ds model.

“BRP is once again taking the industry by storm with the introduction of another industry-first,the new turbocharged Can-Am Maverick X ds side-by-side vehicle,” said Chris Dawson, vice-president and general manager, Global Sales and Consumer Experience division. “The Can-Am Maverick X ds model brings pure performance to a whole new level, positioning BRP as the new benchmark in the industry.”

The Can-Am Maverick X ds side-by-side vehicle boasts industry-leading power with the new 121-hp Rotax 1000R turbocharged option, providing 10% more horsepower and almost 40% more torque than the closest competitor. It also features a completely new rear end providing a longer, 88-in (223.5-cm) wheelbase, a redesigned TTA rear suspension now featuring 16 in(40.6 cm) of travel and Can-Am exclusive high performance Fox shocks to provide capability, comfort and adjustability. This model soaks up terrain and remains nimble. It is tailored to fit riders and their riding style with its premium rider-focused cockpit and ergonomically positioned controls and adjustments.

BRP is also expanding its popular rec-utility side-by-side vehicle line-up by adding the Can-Am Commander MAX Limited model, the most luxurious 4-seat side-by-side vehicle of the industry.

Turbo price if true is very reasonable! I like how they keep the options of all the ds models the same from na to turbo, clutches and all. turbo wont be any benefit to us mud and deep water guys down south, but the other ds may, gonna have to do homework and see what all is vulnerable to mud and water damage

There wont be any heat since you will be moving so fast, you will get more wind cooling!!! :haha:
BTW, a big smile will make you forget about any heat. :in love:

The cat is out of the bag. I think everyone is pretty happy in the Wants and Needs part of it. I won't be selling mine any time soon, I'm pretty happy with what I have. This turbo sure won't make it any cooler in the cab. Is it a AERO turbo system, or who???

Just Wonderin....how much of this factory turbo stuff might retrofit to our rigs? Hmmmmmmmmm.....

Well they add all the great suspension stuff, awesome. probably still won't work because the people at fox still haven't figured how to setup anything. Then they add the HP, great. Then the 28" tires with 14" wheels, fabulous. Then they keep the stupid nets and the crappy belts. Sorry I'll keep my ride with doors and 3" 5 point belts. I'll just have AReed do my shocks and I'll be fine!

The turbo units will be great for desert and dune guys. You can never have enough power in sand.

Apparently this is where BRP does all of their testing because the stock clutch sucks in any sort of technical terrain.

Awesome turbo! Going to fun in the desert and dunes this season.

I sure hope they did major clutch upgrades or I see a lot of belts going boom with that much power.

Am I the only one that was expecting more HP out of the Factory Turbo model? I know 121 HP is a very nice increase over 101 but if I can spend 5-6k on mine and get 160HP at the real wheels with an upgraded clutch, that sounds like the better option. I already have a lot of work done that I don't want to do over like the dual rates from Alex, tie rods, gussets, harnesses, lights, etc.

I know BRP cant come out of the gate with 160 HP, because its a game and each year they need to make a little more HP. Just seems 121HP at the Crank is a little low.

Not complaining, just an observation.

I think with just some programming you will be able to get 140 easily out of it, AND you wont have to go through the headache of installing a turbo kit yourself. I think the price is very fair, especially for the suspension upgrades and longer wheelbase. Hell, its only a little higher than I paid to pre-order my '13! I will wait another year, let them work the kinks out.

You guys with the HP complaint "for a turbo" are missing the point. Can am knows good and well that the competitors will be coming back swinging. This turbo option lets them tweak it very easy to make more horsepower over and over again. This time it's 121 the next time it's 135, and the next time it'll be 150....and so on and so on. The aftermarket will make this turbo scream up to 200 HP in no time with minimal costs to you... so you won't have to buy the next model just to keep up with the HP wars.

Oh and I forgot to add. For you guys that don't know much about turbo's... it's all about boost!! With a turbo set-up it will be very easy to add it. I bet they are running very little boost in it right now like 3-4 PSI. You watch what happens when the aftermarket spins that up to 10-15!!! Hold on boys!!! This is the start of something big right here!! The industry just broke through the next barrier. You watch and see... this has just started a domino with all the other manufactures too. First time in a long wile I have been truly excited!!
