Has anyone started a thread on running bigger tires for the X3? What fits? What works? What needs to be done? Clutch job? Lift? I couldn't get the search function to work. I'd like to run bigger tires on a DS.
Yes. I think for prerunning, the Liberties are a good tire. You're not going at race speed and its a lot easier on the car and its occupants. Being able to lay down lots of rocky miles in relative comfort outweighs the ability to rail around corners in that situation. I still wouldn't race on anything but the DS tire though. There is just no getting around the advantage of the light weight IMO.Zambo
I agree 100%
Ran the liberty for about 1,200 miles
Great tire especially in rocks. Not that great at high speed
been running the tensor ds
Harsh in rocky terrain
Awesome at high speed
Might try out the itp ultraspec r again

I like my Carnivores.Looking at some 32's for my XRC. Looking for a great snow, mud and some trails type tire. I love playing in the snow. I like to pull all the kids around in the big deer sleds through the deep stuff. Any good ideas?
If you are asking about the 35" Maxxis Roxxilla's on my scale they weighed 55.8lbs. The 32" Roxxilla's weighed 42.8 lbs and the factory 30" Big Horns weighed 30.75 lbs. The stock bead lock wheels minus the bead lock ring and bolts weighed in at 13 lbs.Oh wow those things are HUGE!! How much do they weigh?
35" Maxxis Roxxilla's. The one pic shows the stock 30" Bighorn, then the 32" Roxxzilla and than the 35" Roxxzilla so you can see the size difference.

Sounds like something like this might help save your oven!OK, so I mashed one of my OEM rears on my DS doing stupid stuff in Moab. Really glad about it as my wife agreed to let me get new wheels and tires for Christmas!
But width is a major issue as my Toy Hauler only clears the front tire by about 2"...
I have read through this whole tread and done a ton of searching on the net. But I'm stupid when it comes to offsets and clearances and such. I want the tallest tire I can mount on my DS without destroying my oven or X3. So that means keeping it as close to stock width at possible. I have tons of room width wise in the rear.
What say you? What offset do I need to not destroy my oven? 6+1... 5+2...?
Thanks in advance...
Irie I IBjammin... Dat be da solution mon... And since I only need to do the front it should be something I can fabricate and save the $100. Now I can get the wheels I really want and not worry about width. I only need to remember to do this before I load! :serious:Sounds like something like this might help save your oven!
