how were your temps? It looks like your grill was packed solid so I assume you had no airflow across the radiator?

It never got above half on the temp gauge and the fan continued to cycle, never ran constantly. I was watching the temp and gonna stop and clean off the snow but temps never climbed.

With it being so cold you really don't need huge amounts of airflow. Plus the snow packed in the radiator area acts like a fridge and consistently keeps radiator cool in turn keeps coolant temps down. A lot of big rigs and school buses here in the north and Midwest run a cover over there radiators in the winter so to keep the extra cold air out so they will warm to operating temps.
