I was informed by MSA the bolt pattern is the same. Larger studs though.

Thinking of narrowing the wheelbase? Me too! 24" of travel with 70" width seems possible

 

Are you going to be able to narrow with wheels? 6 inch backspacing and the factory wheels look pretty flush to outside seems like it can only either stay same width or go wider.

I am pretty sure it is a square setup, but I will try and find out.

 

I was able to verify that they are now 12mm studs, and the thread pitch is 1.50, so lugnuts are M12x1.50
I cannot say for certain on the X3 base of the X3 Xds, but all 4 wheels are the same on the X3 Xrs.

 

I just had my dealer change my XDS to a XRS and I definitely will want some factory offset wheels for my Warlocks.
I do not want to go any wider so hopefully the aftermarket will step up with a lightweight sand wheel.

 

Put the warlocks on the factory wheels maybe

Ok, so here is a summary of the wheel/tire specs, lug size, and lug nut specs.

12mm lugs with a 1.5 thread pitch
M12x1.5 lug nuts

Wheel/tire specs for X3 base:
Non-beadlocks and non-square setup
Front 14x7 with 55mm of offset which is 6.17" of backspacing with a 28x9x14 bighorn
Rear 14x8 with 76mm of offset which is 7.5" of backspacing with a 28x11x14 bighorn

Wheel/tire specs for X3 XDS:
Beadlocks but non-square setup
Front 14x7 with 55mm of offset which is 6.17" of backspacing with a 29x9x14 bighorn
Rear 14x8 with 76mm of offset which is 7.5" of backspacing with a 29x11x14 bighorn

Wheel/tire specs for X3 XRS:
Beadlocks and Square setup
Front and Rear 14x7 with 55mm of offset which is 6.17" of backspacing with a 30x10x14 bighorn

 

So what will an aftermarket 4+3 or 5+2 do compared to this?

Its pretty clear now that ANY aftermarket wheel is going to widen the track on these things.

 

No problem, and yes, very conservative offsets on the OEM wheels.

 

Did you read? I didn't say they would be 10 lbs each. I said maybe they wouldn't be too bad.

 

Calm down newb. Everyone knows that CanAm uses ALUMINUM for wheel material on the Maverick. They have since the original Maverick was introduced.

 

A factory set of 14" cast non bead locks are around 45 lbs and a set of CMS are 33.74 lbs.

 

I'll keep the wheel specs to myself next time then. May be new here but not new to forums or this sport.

And I'm well aware of what the CMS wheels weigh. I ordered some the other day. Along with a bunch of other shit

Well...your going to need a new toy hauler anyway.....so go big....

 

Yep aftermarket rims are going to add anywhere from 4"-8" of overall width depending on offset you choose.

 

mine is 75" with my desert tires...80plus with paddles.

I'm leaning towards the X3 XDS but would like to have a square setup with the same size tire all the way around. Also would like it a little wider. What offset will accomplish this without exposing the brake calipers to much?

 

It appeared the front and rear wheels were tucked in fully, so going wider won't be an issue but you won't be able to narrow it any. I have a feeling they used the wheels to keep them as narrow as possible while making the arms as wide as possible.

What is the stud size on the current Mav? Would you have to drill out the bolt holes on existing wheels to get them on the 12mm X3 studs?

 

Im pretty sure current maverick is 12mm stud now.

 

My 2013 is only 10mm.

 

15 XDS is 10 mm.

I bet the wheels could be drilled, but the aftermarket wheels may already accept 12 mm studs as they are more common than 10mm. Tim

Anyone able to get the weight on the stock X3 wheels yet, or at least a guess? If we get the XRS, I might just do like "Maverick4me" and get (4) stock wheels and slap some Skats on it. I'd really like to stay as close to 72-ish" wide as possible. I called around to a couple tire/wheel vendors today and it seems no one has after market "factory offset" wheels.

The stock wheels are tucked in pretty good...so on the 14x7, it's probably like what 1+6 offset???
