It is not connected to the brakes but here is what you re referring too...

I have the 32gallon can am cargo box. the box came with a pig tail. I hooked the pigtale up and it was the same end as the plug in the pic. is the light on the cargo box a brake light are a running light.

it was designed as a running light so if you wanted it to be a brake light, you would need to tap into the taillight wiring.

Is there a source for the matching factory plug for this connection? Like the idea of powering my whip from here but would be nice to wire in a connector that would mount right up to this factory plug.

The pigtail that came with my box is for the outlander plug in. Had to buy the connection wire for another 20. you would just think it would come with it. Gotta get every penny out of ya!

As long as the switch has a high enough rating for the lights it should be fine...
