I have a stock 2021 rs turbo r, thinking about putting the whalen 200 tune in it. Wondering if anybody has had any issues with or from it?

I'm sure there are PLENTY that will disagree with me on MMT use.. LOL

I wish I still had the picture of an engine I was running lean with a head gasket leak. It cut through the cylinder head and forged piston like a torch and was still running a 12 second 1/4.

Torco works, but it does turn everything orange.

I'd vote for correct octane fuel or E85 over any boosters. I don't have time for fiddling with junk for a few extra hp anymore, just make as much power as the fuel you have access to will allow. You'll probably be happier in the long run. E85 can be a pain too.
I personally don't like using additives/boosters that contain MMT (VP, Boostane, Torco) or any other that turns your spark plugs/exhaust orange. I prefer using "Klotz Higher octane booster" with no MMT..
What affects does it have on the 02 sensor? Have you checked or have stats/info?
MMT (Methylcyclopentadienyl Manganese Tricarbonyl) is metallic and it will coat the spark plugs, o2 sensors and cat converters, it can foul them if used in high enough concentrations or over enough time
Methylcyclopentadienyl Manganese Tricarbonyl (MMT) is a manganese-based fuel additive
used to increase gasoline octane. It was widely introduced in the United States in the 1970s
by the Ethyl Corporation when regulations restricting the use of tetraethyl lead first came into
force. Today health scientists and automobile manufacturers are strongly opposed to its use.
Combustion of MMT releases manganese, a potent neurotoxin when inhaled. In vehicles it
can leave deposits that degrade the performance of pollution control systems. Similar
concerns regarding tetraethyl lead have led to a near global ban on its use. Alternatives to
MMT are in widespread use and can cost-effectively achieve similar octane levels without
the associated health risk.
It’s my go fast juice though, everyone’s gotta weigh the risk/reward of the mods they do. Like I said I wouldn’t be bumping 91 to 100 on boostane, but to 93-94 I have no concerns. Precautions could be earlier plug changes and gutting the cat which a lot of people do anyways.

I guess I should stop huffing my exhaust though 🏎💨👃

Indepth info on MMT use and its health concerns..among the "coating issue" of spark plugs, o2 and cat converter

I'm sensitive to this topic as I just flashed the WS200 tune on my 120hp buggy. I'm running the 91 octane version and our pump gas in my area is labelled 93, so theoretically fine, but who knows what Bubba actually puts in the tanks.

I'm wondering if a better solution than an additive might be to just mount a 35 gallon gas caddy on my trailer and swing by the airport occasionally for some 100LL avgas. Any issue with running avgas in these? Wouldn't mind keeping Sunoco race fuel, but just harder to come by it in my area.

ETA: Answered my own question. Seems the LL will nuke the 02 sensor.

Correct, not bueno on the o2.. they will do it for a while, then they will get slow to respond and then fail.

You flash the tune with PV3?
Do we have a preferred fuel treatment for octane boost?

I don't really have a solution for consistent fuel except octane booster every time just to be safe, but I don't love the long term effects of it. I can say i'll treat my 91 tune like a 93 tune moving forward. Though after 7000 KM (5000km tuned) of abuse it's likely safe...
All the drag strips I've been to sell race fuel, some stations I've seen used to have CAM2 or VP110 but it was leaded.

Yes. Used the PV3 for the tune and intercooler, charge tubes, catch can and bov from RPM. Working on the clutch tune now.

You can also use the PV3 to monitor knock (overall) and knock per cyl. So you can "watch" how your motor is responding to the fuel... Check it out!
