Has anyone seen the voltage regulator catch fire? It looks like the wires were rubbing against the frame. I hope warranty covers this. Buggy only has 100 miles on it. 2025 X3 XRC

Yes! Just had this happened today 10/3/25 to our 2025 Maverick X3 DS RR we just bought two weeks ago. We were less than 10 miles, and less than an hour into its maiden voyage up in Berlin, NH. We started to smell a burnt smell. Then we got out to see and the voltage regulator was sizzling, and smoking A LOT. It also started a fire in the battery compartment. The only way we got the fire out was my husband disconnected the battery while his hand was being burnt since the terminal was so hot. The fire melted the wiring harness, plastic around the voltage regulator, and part of the battery compartment. It’s going straight back to the dealership tomorrow! We shall see just how good the factory warranty, extended warranty we paid for, and the insurance we pay is when it comes to getting this fixed! Brand new machine is now junk, and can’t be ridden!

Thats crazy as hell. In my five years on this site, I have never seen such a thing. Certainly a short in something. That short of time, no way it's a chaffed wire due to routing.

Hope they can get you taken care of without some stupid BS.
