Bringing this back up to the top. Has anyone found a fix to the slow crank when hot on the xds?
My 2018 maverick trail 1000 dps had the same problem with starting slow and finally died on the trail towed out and after testing found the starter solenoid had grounded out from a combination of mud, water and corrosion. Cleaned out the area and replaced starter solenoid, starts like brand new. The solenoid is in a bad spot under the driver's seat where it gets caked in mud and is sitting in a pocket with poor drainage, it needs little extra cleaning to keep alive longer . Hope this helpsI have been having the same type opf issue on 2018 Maverick trail 1000DPS. In January the dealer replaced the Fuel pump it ran good that day. a month later it started getting off the trailer, turned it off then it took about 10 minutes to get it started again. Took it back to the dealer, they replaced the Cam Sensor and distibuter. took it riding after picking it up ran for about 1/2 hour stopped for 5 minutes then it took another 10 minutes or so to get it to start again. The dealer says they are waiting on replies from CanAm for the next step in service.
Hi Mogulmasher,I figured out what causes them to roll over real slow when hot......but you are not going to like by answer. I have a 2015 maverick max 1000 turbo. I first thought the battery was bad so I started carrying a jump pack and had to use it a couple times so I went and bought a new battery. It seemed a little better but then in the middle of a ride I shut it down and it wouldn't start back up. I wore my battery and jump pack down and had to load on a trailer. Got it home and charged battery and it worked great. FRUSTRATING!!!
I took it to the dealer because I was so frustrated with it and they determined it was the starter. Something happens with it when it gets hot. The starter is buried behind everything so it was extremely expensive to replace it but I haven't had an issue since and that was about 8 months ago. Rolls over great when hot!!!
