And this is why I won't use them again. Seems like such a simple solution to fix it. Doesn't happen with Eibach springs. Yet they keep selling spring kits like this, telling people this is normal and that crossover rings are a "wear item".
Yep, I'm sure not impressed and wont be going with ST in the future on the Other X3's.

Your springs are also wearing, you can see a flat spot in the your last photo. I'm sure I have tried every number on the clock and still had the same problem. New sliders will help for a couple hundred miles.
I figure when they wear enough to be a real issue, I'll get new parts and Eibach's.

His sliders look almost worn through. I'm not convinced the ST spring are the only factor causing the wear in the pictures.

I'm pretty confident it is. I had a RZR Turbo that I ran Eibach springs on for probably 2000 miles or so, crossover rings and sliders looked as good as new. No problem whatsoever. Decided I wanted to do a revalve and chose to take it to ST. Bought their springs and they installed everything. In less than 1000 miles my stuff looked very similar to his. ST said this is normal and crossover rings are a wear item. They were happy to sell me new ones though. A quick Google search will show you this is extremely common with their spring kits and they give everyone the same response.

mud and debris between all of the moving components combined with less spring clearance.
I'm sure mud and debris aren't a help, but this was within 500 miles and it was winter/early spring and cold so it's not like I was out mud running it. Even if that was the sole cause, it's still a design flaw from ST and they take zero responsibility.

In my opinion, ST cheapened up the spring by making it the same diameter the entire length. They made springs that don't seem to want to sit flat and because of that I'm ruining other shock components. I drank the Kool aid and now I have regrets. SO GLAD I didn't buy their steering rack based on others experience.

So....the spring is really the culprit.

Tim
It sounds like it certainly could be but it is hard to tell with how filthy all of his parts are. I'm not experiencing the same problems but I have different shocks. I asked previously if this was primarily an issue with the 2.5" shock but no one seams to know. I'm not seeing the same complaints from 3.0" shocks which appear to have more clearance.

I don't think I'd buy ST's springs again given what I know now. Eibach didn't have springs available at the time though. ST has a track record of blaming everyone else which really sucks. I still think you need to clean your car, there is corrosion and mud on the shock bodies in your pictures.

Its super clean right now!… and it will be for at least the next few weeks till I get it back. I do spray it off after every ride, but I use it around the farm in between so unless I wash it daily (which won’t happen) it’s always going to be some level of dirty.

Edit: FYI On my spring build sheet. I did put in the additional information to consider that I wanted to account for an extra 100lbs of mud that was likely to have on it all the time because I ride in the East and that’s all we have.
