That is a rubber plug to fill with the shocks with a needle. I have never liked that theory and have them switched out to a Schrader valve. The shocks will need the leak corrected and the nitrogen and oil refilled. I would limit riding or not at all if it were me. Tim

 

X2 on what Tim said, switch out to Schrader valves. Any competent shock tuner can do it easily, and replace the nitrogen and oil.

 

I called shock therapy next to me. They said it sounds like the shocks need to be rebuilt, which is $250 and I have to bring them the shocks separate from the machine. They don't do it on the machine. The other whammy is they are atleast 1 month out!

Do both shocks really need to be completely rebuilt after only 400 miles???! I don't even drive it that hard. I am mechanically inclined but clueless when it comes to suspension work, so I appreciate any info that will help me understand what the actual issue is.

Any other recommendations for the Cave Creek area (N phoenix) of who to call that can fix it without waiting over a month?

 

I believe MTS is in your general area, they are very good with shocks.

I gave em a call and they aren't backed up like ST is. I'll probably drop the machine off this week.

If I don't plan on ever working on the shocks myself, do I need to change to a Schrader valve ? Is the reason for the leak because of the poor design of the rubber nipple and it can happen again or would it have happened with the schrader valve as well?

 

This is still something on my list as 3 of mine are oozing very slightly. But I feel my tears just sent right as they get really stiff after a good pounding.
