I would take a fuel tank on the cage over a fuel tank inside the passenger compartment (which is illegal on most road vehicles for a reason).
We are not talking about a road vehicle or storing them in completely enclosed cab. We are talking about putting them under the passenger seat or floorboard.

Well these are off-road vehicles and all except X3s have fuel cells under the seats. A person just died last week from a rollover that caused the rollcage fuel tank to rupture and caught her in fire but hey, you do you.

Have you looked at the Giant Loop fuel bags? Another good option

Thats what I use, a 3 gallon that I harness in the passenger seat since I always ride solo.
What's nice about the bag, if you are short, you can use it on the driver's seat as a backrest. 😁

MQUnlimited, I was just going to comment I'd never seen any reported cases where a rollback mounted container ruptured during a crash and then you put that up. As someone who occasionally mounts a Rotopax to the exterior cage I'd like to read that if there's any reports on it. I'd also really like to know if it was a Rotopax or some other fuel jug. Still seems safer from fire driving my X3 with Rotopax mounted than driving certain Polaris models if you know what I mean. LOL

I don’t carry extra fuel often because of my concerns and the lack of a good place and method to store it. I do have a rotopax for my RZR XP turbo that I mount on the cage similar to the picture above (except rotated inward to be over the bed, but still over the motor) that I use from time to time. I have the rotopax because my RZR has way less range than my X3 and is needed for some of the longer rides we do. My practice is to empty the rotopax into the tank as soon as possible so I’m not carrying extra fuel the whole time. I see it as taking the risk but limiting my exposure.

This was her rig, two rotopax mounted on the cage. The original post of the day of her accident has since been deleted, she was life flighted with severe burns after a rollover where it stated, her storage tanks ruptured and caught on fire. She unfortunately passed away days later.
🙏🏼 for her family

Rotopax lawsuit in the works? While not the same model they do Promote/sell these dumb “cage specific” tanks.

We know PEOPLE are dumb, but when you have COMPANIES building and promoting this shit you gotta wonder.

I’m not a fan of lawsuits or ambulance chasers but I do believe Rotopax shares a good portion of responsibility for why we see so many people driving around these days with these dumb tanks strapped to the cage

disclaimer on their site to help dumb people. When used correctly the Rotopax and perfectly safe.

Always mount Gasoline Container (RollpaX) within the protected area of the Rollbar, to eliminate risk of fire or bodily harm in the case of an accident/rollover."

You don’t see the problem here? Even THEY don’t follow their disclaimer. Again they are promoting a product that goes directly AGAINST their OWN disclaimer.

I’m no lawyer but something here stinks.

Nope.... I see it as a good way to slow the punctuated equilibrium of the retard species. If you cant look at that and realize it's probably not a good idea to put yours there because you might catch on fire.... No warning was going to save you anyway.
