So I decided to do a thing. IMG_20191117_120358938.jpg

I took delivery of my new still in the crate 2019 RC in early Nov 2019 and have been trying to find an aftermarket rear bumper/spare tire carrier that is reasonably priced and looks right. After a couple of months of looking at what is out there I decided to make my own. I got a pipe bender for Xmas and decided to put it to work. IMG_20191225_125922485.jpg
I started out by figuring out what bend/angle I wanted to wrap her sexy a$$ with, but still be able to fit/carry a 33" tire. I currently have 30" rubber on 14" wheels, but when it is time to replace I will be going with 15" bead lock wheels and 32" rubber, so I wanted to make sure that I can fit what I will be upgrading to. IMG_20191225_125911409.jpg Next I decided that I would tie the bumper to the car in 3 places. I built my own bracket that bolts on behind the recover plates top and middle radius arm bolts. IMG_20191225_132331933.jpg IMG_20191226_115120533.jpg I ultimately ended up welding the upper and lower backing together...you can see it in the completed product pics. Here are the long uncut and unfitted lower support arms. IMG_20191227_143818619.jpg

Next up was the crossbar supports. I made my own brackets to "wrap" the frame where there is a bolt hole completely through the frame from the factory. That looked like the best place for me to tie into. IMG_20191229_134754534.jpg IMG_20191229_134816044.jpg Here are a couple of pics after i got it fitted but not welded. Got the last of the welds finished. I ordered powder from Prismatic Powders and have a local company all lined out to bake it on. The powder should show up in the next day or two. It should match Can-am's Gulfstream Blue pretty spot on. Just dropped the bumper and powder off at Acme Powder Coating here locally. Should have it coated and back towards the end of the week.

I got my bumper back from powder coat Friday after work. I am quite pleased and the color is very close. I even have room for my cooler. I am going to fab a removable base/cradle for it. IMG_20200111_103235759.jpg IMG_20200111_103254576.jpg IMG_20200111_103328782.jpg
