Plastic or Metal roof?

Debating on which roof to get, concerned the aluminum roofs will rattle or at least amplify and bounce drive train noise back. Any thoughts or experiences to the contrary?

Aluminum. I will be getting rid of my plastic one soon. An old trick I learned with aluminum roofs, go to Lowes and buy that fabric stuff that you see on speaker boxes and line the bottom of the roof with it using spray adhesive. Makes a good noise deadner. Also makes a handy place to stick some stuff with velcro.

I have Can-Am's plastic Sport Roof but would prefer aluminum. A Can-Am accessory version vs aftermarket based on web pics I've seen so far. Mine would be left powdercoated since I prefer smooth surfaces for ease of cleaning. I wash mine entirely (outside/inside) at end of each trail ride. Smooth surfaces are much easier to wipe dry, if that's your thing as seems is mine. Yeah, I'm fussy to a fault...

^^^ If the Can-Am Sport Roof had been smooth underneath and if it extended forward and followed the MavT roll cage formed corner to in effect provide sun visor protection, plastic would have been OK with me. Instead, Can-Am's plastic roof has molded bosses/ribs on underside "ceiling" plus stops short of that front corner - presumably to accommodate their full windshield which I have no need for. Compare the Dragonfire aluminum roof (web pics) to that and you'll see what I mean.

Thanks for the input. Pretty much settled on the Ryfab glass folding windshield and in talking with them, they were not certain that works with any existing aluminum roofs. Will wait for their upcoming aluminum roof and get both at the same time.

On our bikes, we used to run aluminum skid plates, but on many of them they are very loud and reverberate the engine noise up at the rider. I was concerned that a metal roof would do the same, where a plastic unit would not.

They tell me that they are currently working on a roof at Ryfab. With a few more people pushing it should be released here pretty quickly. I've never really heard of anyone complaining about an aluminum roof rattling. I guess it could happen. Seems like maybe they're thick enough it's not a problem. Some people I know would put a small strip of rubber between the roof and the cage when they bolt it down as a preventive measure, but not sure it was necessary. Ryfab has been making roofs for RZRs for many years and I've never heard a complaint about theirs.
If you look at the Ryfab windshield you'll see they added a strip of metal across the top to bridge the gap between the windshield and the Can-Am roof. I'm hoping the Ryfab roof will do away with that strip of metal, and instead, curve down and meet their windshield. I'd bet a nickel that's what they do.

Appreciate the tips and suggestions. Decided on the Ryfab folding windshield and as they indicated it works with the factory sport plastic roof, decided to go with that instead of waiting for them to produce an aluminum unit.
After running around locally for 30 miles, didn't want to wait for another month of mud/water raining in on me...
