I know, here we go again!!!

So I was at st Anthony for 9 days last week, rained almost entire time again. I had (2) full sets of tires. 30/11/14 10 paddle extremes and Tom's (TIK in forum, he runs them on his X3 DS) full set 28" #2 STU paddles with 3 rib fronts

Extremes: throw sand like crazy, lots of wheel speed, the fronts even buffed do help in 4wd, very fast on top end, decent stability when dunning at high speed, 7" rims all corners, running 9 psi = conclusion, not enough tire for tuned machines, would be perfect on stock machine though

STU 28" #2 : more paddles helped launch harder, not throwing as much sand, more stable while dunning due to being wider, 4wd didn't seem much different, turned better, slower on top end, being shorter was noticeable as that extra ground clearance is needed when coming into dips fast not wanting to plow front end carrying momentum, 8 wide rims front, 10" rear, overall weight was close on fronts, rears were few lbs heavier each, running 9psi = conclusion, molded are less fragile in lave / rocky area, would prefer these in 30" if I was to buy, they dune better when running high speed due to width, would even consider a #1 paddle maybe?

If it's any hint of wet sand, stock 30" tires aired down do better then any paddle, I saw stock machines doing very well while it was slightly wet, as things dried out paddles had advantage

So now I am going to buy a set of 31.5" or 30"stagger rippers and run them on 8" front and back I think, there goes another $2k

How do you know the CST tire is smaller in front? If they are buffed to have a matching rollout to the rear, which I am positive Fullerton is doing, there is no issue. I saw them in person and those front tires are not smaller than the rears.

Funny we all ran CST lumberjack skats on the rhino and teryx with no issues.

The mighty 26.5 skats you raved about for the Maverick and XP1000 were just buffed down tires. Tim did not have any special mold.

How do I know what the Roll out is. Seriously. Hehehe.
I am the almighty Warlock!!!
I have been in the Buffing Room and saw them Buffed down and the Tape measure put on them as they do every single tire that's ever buffed down they measure its Roll out on the wheel aired up to the standard 15 psi when finished Buffing and roll out is checked they separate the tires accordingly. The CST tires are not similar to each other and the fronts are smaller.
XTREME Warlock Tires are buffed measured and separated by Roll out and all fronts are larger than the rears. Best sand tire ever made.
Back in the day it was a find a knobbie tire and buff it down and hope it was good. Some tires worked way better than others obviously and with the size of tires needed for these new long travel X3 cars Required Tim to have custom molds made at Goodyear, because there is nothing out there in the way of tires currently produced that will buff down and have 100+ Roll out. None of the big mud or dirt tires buff down with out hitting cords.
XTREME tires are produced exclusively for Tim to Buff down and that right there is the key to a light weight and consistent tires being produced out of Skat-Trak.
The X3 needs ground clearance in order to keep the car from slapping its belly pan in the sand. You have long travel suspension so why limit it and not use the travel by running a shorter tire. [emoji3]

I asked the question knowing the answer.

X3 would not hit the belly if Can Am made the last 2-4" of travel above ground, not subterranean. Lmao!!

Yep ground clearance is important. That Max is going to need a 35" paddle tire to keep the belly from scraping the dunes.

Plus the bigger tires look better on the X3.

Ok thanks for the info and pics. I have 76" between my fender so i either do 14 x 7 with 5/2 offset and cross my fingers or go 4/3 and drive over the fender. Now to decide on the wheels. Im liking the new Raceline Ryno's or the bronze STI HD5, both beadlocks. Racelines only come in 14 x 7 all the way around but if I go with the STI I can do 14 x7 in front and 14 x 9 in back. What do you think?

Thats the beauty of the way They come now with no tread. It takes less time to buff them and they always come out light and perfect.

I will be posting my results later today, been long week so haven't had time, I will say all (3) X3's destroyed the Rzr's no problem. The evo vs pwr tune is dam near dead even as well, but the advantage went to the machine with the clutching, which was mine. Swapping tires confirmed all results and then some, mines on right with rippers. The left had same 31.5 but extreme 10 blade

On choke my rippers, clutching and evo / vs his pwr tune, stock clutching and extreme 10 blade, dam near dead even we raced 3 times back to back we tied, him by 1/2 then him by 3/4 length with him winning as his had better top end tires, the diferance could be a wash based on reaction time and I could have used my new clutch as a stall convertor but for this instance I didnt, so again dam even. Overall he weighed about 70lbs less as he pulled his cooler and weighs less than me by 40lbs but awesome race none the less, Rzr's were at half hill and we were over top already.

On the drag hill by camp, I beat him by several lengths every time. In 2wd I also beat him and he was in 4wd

Once we swapped rear tires, I beat him on drag hill but not by as much as the rippers really did good on this hill. We never had chance on choke to run swapped tires as my rpm with his tires prob would have been the ticket

We both agreed the rippers launch way harder, the extremes if had enough time & hill length he could catch me on top end. I thought I would own him on choke but each time I jumped out front he would catch me. On thunder/ crapo though I owned him bottom to top. My shock therapy was so smooth through the nasty stuff at bottom of hill as well

We both ate (2) belts, covers were extremely hot, we did no belt breaking in on the 391's, temps were 85 and very hot in sand during daytime

I now have (3) of the 18 belts and will break all them in and run no cover if clean and dry conditions to avoid more failures

my thought is I will prob jump to the 4ri as I now have enough tire for where I ride, what fuel you running? I prob wont be at invasion but most of the rzr's in my group will be there. I know evo is there and will have their big stage 6 car, I hope they run up against that Hanson guys stripped down big turbo Frankenstein car( its a 1000 car, not an xpt with big turbo). He has not one accessory, not even a lightbar as he knows power to weight is in his favor

I'm just running Douglas Ultimates, and 30 inch 12 paddle Skats.
Also not running a single accessory.
I run 94 octane, hard to get in St Anthony so I have to bring enough for 4 days.
I made the mistake of mixing 91 and octane boost.
Worked good for the first three days and then I bought gas just outside of Idaho falls and mixed the same ratio.
Let's just say it was a expensive mistake.
