I know, here we go again!!!

So I was at st Anthony for 9 days last week, rained almost entire time again. I had (2) full sets of tires. 30/11/14 10 paddle extremes and Tom's (TIK in forum, he runs them on his X3 DS) full set 28" #2 STU paddles with 3 rib fronts

Extremes: throw sand like crazy, lots of wheel speed, the fronts even buffed do help in 4wd, very fast on top end, decent stability when dunning at high speed, 7" rims all corners, running 9 psi = conclusion, not enough tire for tuned machines, would be perfect on stock machine though

STU 28" #2 : more paddles helped launch harder, not throwing as much sand, more stable while dunning due to being wider, 4wd didn't seem much different, turned better, slower on top end, being shorter was noticeable as that extra ground clearance is needed when coming into dips fast not wanting to plow front end carrying momentum, 8 wide rims front, 10" rear, overall weight was close on fronts, rears were few lbs heavier each, running 9psi = conclusion, molded are less fragile in lave / rocky area, would prefer these in 30" if I was to buy, they dune better when running high speed due to width, would even consider a #1 paddle maybe?

If it's any hint of wet sand, stock 30" tires aired down do better then any paddle, I saw stock machines doing very well while it was slightly wet, as things dried out paddles had advantage

So now I am going to buy a set of 31.5" or 30"stagger rippers and run them on 8" front and back I think, there goes another $2k

Does anyone run or have ran both of these paddles. I am going with a pair of STU Sr31 Blackbird Pro's compcut #3. Going with those over a set of the 1300 plus comp cuts because given the rims i have which are Packard OG 15x11 they would be a better choice given the 1300plus likes to be on a 12 or 13" wide wheel. I am juat wondering how the 2 compare with about 375 to 380hp motor.. I will also be running some SS360 comp cuts up front to help me leave the hole. I have a pair of STU Sandblaster 33-15 and people said those wouldn't work but not only did they work i know people that want to buy a set as they were great and I was MPH people out there in SL.

yeah the bigger paddles had me outrun others by a big amount on the big end as I was able to mph them, what hurt me was having smooths upfront as I couldn't leave as hard as I should of. I raced a very well known 420hp kit and was able to trade wins with him. This new new is running great, big things to come...

I was going to go with Sr31 #3 but was talked into the Pro's by Scott going off the data we got while out. Just hope It was the right choice as I do wonder about those 1300plus

Cut 360's up front are great for coming out of the hole and also for duning. I was worried how well they'd do to be honest but they are actually the best front tire I've duned with. In 4wd quick runs the car will turn instead of push into corners like the buffs and others. Can also come out of the corner quicker with more forward bite. Overall was really impressed with how the 360 performed.

I was looking at getting a set of 32" xtreme or sandcraft paddles. I wanted to run the rears with my existing ss360s up front but they are only 30".

Bad Idea to run a smaller size up front, Especially in 4wd?

Get 30" rear paddles?

Go 32" all around?

Thanks
Go 32 all around.

If you use 4wd a lot, and don't mind front end push out in fast tight turns front buffs will work otherwise that will be compromised.
Also if you ride in areas like the Oregon coast where you need a lot of traction and rigidity from puncture with limbs and tree roots we see those tires get eaten up quick all the time out here.

I've only been two Dumont Dunes twice with the X3. Been going since I was 15 but always on 2 wheels. I am still definitely learning the dunes on 4 wheels and don't really push it too hard especially with my wife in the buggy with me. I had nothing but good things to say about the ss360s but I have also never been on a traditional paddle set up.

I am going to Dumont veterans day weekend an my buddy that bought the ss360s will be there as well. We shall see how they do.

Looking to purchase Macs tire nets and interested to purchase 1 set of nets compatible with paddles and also with 32”X 10” tires.

Is it reasonable to have a single set of nets work with both sets of wheels and tires? Was told it should be, but need to pin down some dimensions.

What would be a typical, run of the mill sized for a X3 paddle dimensionally? To narrow down the variables, a 200 HP XRS utilized in Oregon?

I called Macs, and have mailed them again over 2 weeks ago, hoping to seek outside sources for advice if possible. Hopefully from a first hand experience.

I can use these for both paddles and bighorn, the top strap is a little loose with the paddle but make no difference since the two side straps hold taut.
