I believe it’s only a few weeks until the on-line dealers meeting, just wondering Wtf anyone thinks is about to happen/change for the 2024 lineup. I’m waiting to buy a new XMR RR
What should change on the Mavs anyone dead against anything currently bugging them?

ive been saying that the commander needed to be 120hp since it came out. it would be awesome, i cant believe they chose the 2 cylinder engines instead of the 900ace to put in that chassis. so many options with the 900 for power selection and they take the old 1000 and use that instead...

looks like the polaris stuff will be interesting!

for competition sake, i hope so too. i was messing with my wife last night, saying that we need to get a 4 seater commander to round out the sxs group and finish filling the garage with sxs. the defender is a great 50-60 mile machine or planned stop for breaks machine. the x3 is great for 120+ mile days but is a 2 seater and the dog is up on the back rack. the commander would be a nice 70-120 mile a day machine plus the dog can be inside. hahaha id rather get a commander than an updated x3 really... i could use 1 machine for more stuff instead of 2 dedicated machines, the seats in the defender just arent comfy after 40-50 miles of trail riding.

Yesterday went to the dealership to grab a few things was bullshitting with the parts manager and head sales guy. They both claimed they were just at a Can Am event and they are claiming that Can Am will have a response in 2024 for the Pro R. They wouldn't go into details when I questioned what is going to be the response

I posted this in another thread but more appropriate here.

Not sure how true this is, however I got some inside news where an aquaintance/friend sat in the new Can Am.

The unfortunate part is, we don't know for sure if was a prototype or the real deal.

8 inches longer and........ with a 6spd dual clutch set up, I guess it's kind of like the (maybe wet clutch) PDK Porsche design.

That's all I know folks and don't hold me to it!

I hope you're right as this is exactly what I want.

I expect it will be DCT and not a real sequential.

I think 300hp is the right number but I expect BRP and everyone to be a few years from 300 out of the box.

Again I hope you're right.

When she is along, yes, we go pretty slow. About the fastest she goes is 40 mph on a road, woods riding is slow paced anyway.

one of the selling points for the defender max was so that dora could stay inside the cab in case of bad weather haha. if the weather looks good, we take the x3, if there is a chance of rain, we take the defender. LOL

Seems to be ranger based with a full cab and a topper basically by the looks of the patent info and such that was floating around with that blurb.

Definitely aimed at the overlanders, I think the majority of the jeepers will need it to be road legal before they are going to play in the arena. Maybe it will be, we shall see soon.

I cannot wait any longer. Nothing happened last year worth buying a new x3. I will keep my RC I have now but going to add a Troy Lee Pro R 2 seater to the fleet. Surrendered my down payment today.

Nothing’s really happened in a few years. Basically BNG / colors, and some tweaks. That’s why CanAm has to put out a new SXS. I’m sure the X3 will continue, it’s too good of a platform not to. But, new “something” needs to appear.

That's the world of sport sxs's. Look how long Polaris milked the XP 1000 platform! Introduced in 2013, continued with electronic, engine and component upgrades without a total redesign until really the Pro r. I never considered the turbo S as a new machine as the polaris fans did, it was still essentially the same chassis, interior deminsons as the original Xp 1000, with a lot of upgrades and refinements. The X3 has been out, relatively unchanged since 2017 so by comparison, Polaris stayed with the same overall design for 10 years whereas it looks like Canam will have stayed with this platform for 6 years without a major redesign. I like to think that Canam was considerably ahead of the time with the X3 and that's why it's lasted this long. Really until the Pro R, I and probably most of you reading this, wasn't considering buying anything else or anything new since the X3 was the pinnacle of sxs. The Pro R was introduced in November of 2021 so honestly, Canam is really not that far behind, and they're still winning most of the races with the X3 platform even against the much larger displaced and suspended Pro R. Can't wait until August.

There's nothing wrong with the DP980 material. It's used in automotive applications like bumpers etc.

I think the thickness or lack there of is the problem.

They made it way too thin in my opinion.

I suspect the newer units with the thicker frame will have less issues.

Why would they need to keep the weight low?

That's a myth as far as I'm concerned.

Maybe mud guys or some other specialty back East riding may prefer low weight, but for desert and dunes heavier to a reasonable degree is better as long as the HP is commensurate.

The Pro R is obnoxiously heavy by UTV standards, especially the 4 seater and it handles extremely well in the dunes.

Heavier cars feel more planted and when the suspension is tuned properly tend to go through the whoops better, now some of that is because heavier cars are typically longer.

Look at offroad racing and how heavy those cars are.

When the previous owner of ST first designed his 5 seat sand car weighing over 3k with a V8, naysayers said it was " too heavy" to ever be a good duner. Justin would place in the top 3 everytime I saw in the EPO races Glamis dunes website held and against the best cars in the business. Funco was the only car beating him, a car designed for just dunes not off road.

His next iteration or cars the Dune Buggy. Com cars ( Avenger) were over 4k and both the Avenger and Predator are still considered great handling cars to this day 15 to 20 years later.

As long as Can Am has the power to weigt ratio down a heavy car weighing in like Pro R will be fine and in my opinion better handling.

Obviously too much weight is a thing, but make it strong enough to last and that won't adversely affect the car.

I kinda disagree with some of this... if you have seen any PRO-R climb something, they struggle vs the lighter cars.. The Pro-R seem to always be searching for traction when climbing (where the weight has the greatest effect).

I agree that power to weight is very important but that is not all that should be considered. I want it light and strong!
