I believe it’s only a few weeks until the on-line dealers meeting, just wondering Wtf anyone thinks is about to happen/change for the 2024 lineup. I’m waiting to buy a new XMR RR
What should change on the Mavs anyone dead against anything currently bugging them?

I just watched the video it looks like it’s growing on them a lot based on what they had to say this time. They seem to actually like the machine a lot more in this video and I think Nick replaced his Pro R with it.

I will say the plastic panel that came off during their rip around their own track was a bit concerning and When it comes to the quality of the plastics and things popping loose I hope it’s not a big issue. However I imagine it’s just a simple alignment of the plastics type issue that can probably be fixed easily by tweaking everything a bit.

Looks good going around the track other than the ass end wanted to hop up on that one jump. Maybe the jump face is too short causing it.

They seem to be liking it more.

The way it went around the track and whipped around the turns has me thinking the dune review was way off. Let's see what they have to say after they take it to Glamis.

This is two videos and they have not broken any suspension parts on it.

Not sure if he was being sarcastic saying they are the authority on SXS's but that's a stretch. I will say, having looked closely at two R's I was considering buying, the body lines not matching is a real thing. It is nearing the 'awful' level. The ghost panel on the left where I believe will eventually be the water neck filler for the windshield fluid reservoir doesn't stay latched, was missing the rubber grommet and the hinge is thin plastic. Panels will be easy to find randomly in the sand dunes.

I like the car more and more, though there are some quality concerns (as well as un-resolved tech issues)

Questions to all. Why is the Mav R compared to the pro R instead of the pro turbo R every video I watch? 1000cc vs 2000cc don’t compete anywhere except the dunes. Why didn’t they run pro R for top speed on dyno to compare? And one last thing. I don’t remember them posting a lap speed for zous’s run in the mav R in there last video?

All excellent points.

Obviously the Mav R lap was really fast or they'd be ragging on it. The leave on the Mav R in their drag races looked suspect to me, like they didn't have it in the right mode or something. They didn't top speed anything else because it didn't fit their narrative of "the Mav R is over hyped".

Unpopular opinion, I just finished watching the 1st video the SXSBlog guys did and I can't figure out what so many are complaining about. I'm not a huge fan of those guys, especially Nick Leonard, the guy is a complete tool with zero mechanical ability, the channel would be vastly improved if he stayed off camera but it was his idea.

They didn't bash on the car that I heard but I'm not emotionally tied to this being the best car ever made as it seems some might be. I heard a lot of praise coming from them about the car overall with some criticism from a 1st impression and they were obviously excited to just get out and drive the thing instead of pouring over the owners manual to find out all the intricacies of the controls. I'd do the same thing lol, start it up and take off driving and figure it out later.

My only guess is because they are the two best machines on the market right now and most buyers use them for recreational use, not racing, so displacement doesn't matter.
Turbo R has a short wheelbase, shorter than an X3, Pro R is closest to the Mav but still 4"s shorter(and 4"s wider,).

I just watched one of their videos also
they sure bashed on the R for its fit and finish and showed some close ups
( mostly plastics) and it having the ( “ rear end try and pass you” on jumps as a typical can am trait )

they just were not as impressed with the R as I had expected, I also am not a big fan of the channels cast but they
do putout a lot of interesting content

The first one at the dunes is super cringey and awkward as they stumble over how much trash to talk

call it what you want, but I am sure it did not help sales,, they are pretty big sxs influencers IMO and no wants a nose diving car that has poor fit and finish ( their description )

I personally don't put any value in their opinions after they said the Simplisafe security is great lol
Did you see what they were talking about with the poor fit and finish? They weren’t making stuff up to trash the machine, the gaps were all over the place, parts were coming off 😂. Sounds like Matt is still going to buy one and I wouldn’t be surprised if Steve gets one too. That would make 3 on the channel. I suppose if Can Am was really concerned about their opinion throwing off sales they could have invited them to the unveil, I didn’t hear them bitching about getting snubbed but I may have missed it.

After my initial comment these guys dropped a video as well and they seem to give a strong review of the machine with it mostly beating out the Pro R in the desert and at the end of the video they talk about going to the dunes. I’m interested with their take on the car it will be interesting to see.

Once they figure out how to drive the Maverick R and get comfortable with it the reviews will get better. Even from the SXS blog guys. Driving a DCT is much different than a CVT. It is going to be a learning curve for sure.

I do see the Maverick R needing some springs and tuning on shocks. The car should not be bucking in the rear that much.

The car does look like it bottoms out very easily and bucks pretty damn hard. They dropped another video today and at the 11:01 mark you can see it. Am I right in thinking the suspension seems relatively soft and setup more for King of the Hammers style racing/rock crawling over jumping dunes? Also would shock tuning fix this thing at the dunes?

Didn't see any of that behavior in the videos with Pastrana and McFarland hammering on the R in the desert and the dunes. Likely some shock timing would address it. Just hope Can Am has upped the quality of their springs. And keep in mind that on small jumps like that, getting off the throttle too early will result in the ass-end kicking up.

Yeah like those guys didn't figure out how to hit a jump wrong or set the suspension to soft to get it to bottom? Riiiiiight

#3,387 ·
Not saying they did or didn't, but they never said/mentioned anything about making any adjustments to the suspension. And keep in mind that these are the guys who drove around in Low range without realizing it, so...

No fine tuning with the live value shocks. Some springs and valving will help the live valve.

Boy they sure changed their tune drastically about the Mav R after Speed pissed them off.

Pretty good video but I give it a thumbs👎 for not including the speed. Can’t see how Robby shuts everyone down with any negative against the greatest sxs ever. His brakes obviously suck and power is at the bottom of the list but the car has potential just not with him being a commie over it
