One thing (small and irrelevant, but...) that I wonder about is why they didn't put a full lens over the headlights, instead of the individual lights?

 

Probably for looks.

Another question, is it any easier to change the plugs? Asking for a friend.....

Yes it can get easier if you don't have to pull the intercooler.

I would check my plugs more often if I didn't have to do that.

 

Pulling intercooler is like 5 maybe 10 mins job.. unless you have something mounted in the bed. You will waste more time trying to get to them from the bottom.

 

4 bolts and two clamps. If that a pain you won’t be fixing anything else on the utv yourself.

 

Alright maybe inconvenient, instead of a PITA, LOL.

 

Did you forget about tubes?

Pulling plugs is a PIA that doesn't need to be, period.

Don't need to argue with those who want to argue.

 

I don't see how anyone can alleged its not a PITA when you have to remove the intercooler.


I've never had a vehicle I had to remove an intercooler to change the plugs.

The Triton v8 you had to remove the intake. Was it doable by a typical garage guy yes , was a PITA yes!

Eliminating removing the intercooler would definitely make it easier.

No one here has said it's a not doable just could be much less steps. Seems like a worth while expectation.

Every invention ever made was to make something simpler. It's natural and normal.


I feel this alleging its so simple is some form of virtue signling.

Well stated, pretty much sums it up!

 

What about the tubes? You disconnect the tube on the pass side (at the intercooler, easy), disconnect the outlet at the turbo discharge (easy), take out the 4 bolts, lift up and disconnect the plug. intercooler is out..

 

My oldest daughter had a Mitsubishi Galant that required the entire fuel injection intake plenum and manifold to be removed to change 3 of the 6 spark plugs.

 

New plugs???

Trade that wore out thing in……..

 

Yes I still believe intercooler needs to come out.

From the pics motor looks pretty tucked up in there more than the X3. Almost appears it would be easier to get to through the firewall.

Difficult to say without seeing it better.

 

Looks like itll be WAY easier to change them than the X3…pull the firewall access off and its right there.

It's not as it's too difficult, it's too time consuming and as stated, PIA.
Not like I'm inept, I've buit cars/race cars all my life, I want something easy and quick to maintain, especially with basics as plugs, oil, filters, etc.

Another issue, I don't want the "inept" dealers touching it unless absolutely necessary.

 

I wouldnt trust 3/4 of the dealer’s mechanics out there to put air in my tires. Ive seen first hand how stupid/lazy these people can be.
