I believe it’s only a few weeks until the on-line dealers meeting, just wondering Wtf anyone thinks is about to happen/change for the 2024 lineup. I’m waiting to buy a new XMR RR
What should change on the Mavs anyone dead against anything currently bugging them?

I'm very curious to see how long it takes them to release a trail version of the new platform. And/or a mud version.

I still think most will dislike and never use the paddle shifters in the end. Sure it will be a novelty at first but quickly get old and over rated. I think its great to get away from the rubber band but at what cost? A heavier transmission with hundreds of precision moving parts and required cooling system. Time will tell if yall mouth breather figure out how to up shift and down shift at the correct times and not destroy the transmission. 🍿

While I agree on the paddle shifter part... for the most part. Performance shifting is unnecessary. Using it for crawling or other technical things will be a thing.

I don't agree at all on the rest.

There is no way to "destroy" the transmission. That tells me you are VERY unfamiliar with a dct. The trans shifts for you. While I have a lot of respect for your mechanical aptitude you are way off base on a dct.

The driver is NOT operating the clutch. The shifting gets done automatically once you pull the paddle and then ONLY if the correct parameters are met.

There is NO reason to expect BRP to have built anything less than a stellar until. They are not re inventing the wheel. These trans have been around a while and perform well in very high end cars. My AMG is a very expensive car relatively speaking and Mercedes wouldn't use them if they didn't perform.

I've been driving a 7 speed DCT for over a year now. When I put it in Race or sport mode and push the accelerator the shifts are so quick and precise you cannot tell it shifts even under power.

I'm going to post this and it will be here for ALL of eternity and say this transmission will the new gold standard.

A rubber band is a kids toy not a performance automotive transmission.

The automatic/manual novelty isn't a necessity in all the automobiles these days either, and I'm sure the majority of people don't use it..

But it's nice to be able to lock out overdrive gears and/or help stop the constant gear searching on some of the underpowered 10spd ZFs...

Would probably be utilized in a similar manner by savvy folks with the new DCT..

Why would someone not want some kind of manual control on a auto trans? Maybe there is a huge dune/hill coming up, I know I would want to drop a gear or two to get ready for it... Seems like a nice feature to me....

The trans/ECU is not going to allow someone to cause damage just by "shifting" at the wrong time. Its still still fully electronically controller/limited... you can only do what they allow you to do..

This is pretty obvious to anyone not using coloring books.

Climbing a hill. Pulling someone out that's stuck. Preparing for an obstacle. Mud. I mean really he must be just trolling...

I tend to agree with alot of this but I never ever try and undercut people's ability to mess stuff up.

I'm missing the issue with the auto shift OR manual shift.

Not you specifically, just in general here.

I know my current car is just like an automatic. Shifts at lower RPM under moderate load and redline at full acceleration.

If you didn't get told it was dct you would assume it's an automatic. I feel like this is basically the same thing, automatics have been "automatically" shifting for almost 75 years and we don't even think about the trans or motor blowing up over it. Automatics have clutches just like this.

Using a B&M ratchet shifter in an automatic is very similar to what's happening here. I don't see much room for error. IMHO.

I suspect like Mega referenced most will leave it in Automatic mode for most driving applications.

So looks like the air scoop is still there with the 35” spare in the bed. Smooth landing too

The new Can Am is super impressive in the suspension department. Notice how there is no crazy track width change at full droop. Also the car no longer uses the frame as a bump stop into the ground.

I believe Blurton's car is not even running the smart shocks.

And many others opinion.

The thing is you think when the collective speaks out against you it's a personal attack.

Maybe the fact Is that you need to make a course correction not the collective needs to change.

Getting along means reading the room.

If many many longtime folks who KEPT this forum around, many during the times Can Am wasn't the cool rig say something that SHOULD carry weight with you, but it doesn't you just keep pouring it on.

I tried to smooth things over and it wasn't three days and you started back pushing on me with information that you have NO real world experience in.

This situation is just more of the same.

Hollywood has been a mainstay here long before you ever posted. He has my respect EVEN though we have had a couple of disagreements. He has valuable input, supports the vendors and welcomes new members consistently.

The thing that'll be interesting for me is range. I like to go on LONG trips through Baja and the ability to go at least 150 miles (preferably more) is a huge deal. I'm thinking that one advantage this new car will have over my x3 is the ability to basically overdrive the thing on long road stretches rather than wind the motor up to high rpm, hopefully leading to better fuel mileage. Yes, I know that mileage isn't really a concern for what a lot of people use these cars for, but for prerunning its a big deal. Conversely, the Pro R rzr gets unbelievably terrible mileage, you're lucky to get 80 miles out of a tank in places like San Felipe. That's no bueno. I'd say my one disappointment so far, not having even seen one of these MavRs in the wild, is that they couldn't fit a bigger fuel tank than 13 gallons into the stock frame somewhere.
