I like it and I think its going to be an awesome car to own and drive. Is it a little ugly, absafu**inglutely, but the design is pretty badass.
Everyone is worried about a branch or rock getting jammed between the tire and top arm balljoint area. Take a look at the current X3 and look at the side tolerance between the tire and trailing arm, pretty close to the same tolerance on the new car front end. I have never had a problem with a stick/branch or a rock getting jammed in my trailing arm while riding trails in an X3, and the X3 trailing arm area is a more vulnerable area(lower). This will not be an issue on the new car and you're not going to hit the bj arm on something, if you do, the R model is probably not for you.
The only thing that makes me nervous is the 10.5 screen. It looks too nice for offroad, and it looks like it is not covered (built into dash) 100% in the back, I can't imagine powerwashing that thing. Besides that and the same(similar) shi**y seats, I think its a win.
