How long until 4 seater, maybe no 4 seater?

 

They will probably wait a year or two

 

A couple of pluses, at 77" it would still fit in my toy hauler, the adaptive lighting stuff on paper sounds cool until I think about it and when/if I turn on my accessory lighting I want it all bright all the time, not making adjustments as I drive.

I kind of feel these are going the way of my 23 Ski-Doo summit 850 Turbo. They are getting so advanced with the DCT, electronic waste gate, anti-lag adaptive lighting, shit you can not afford to own one outside of the warranty period. My sled is that way, its a two or three year and replace deal.

I like that they have a x3 max RC RR but was a bit disappointed you can not get it with smart shocks.

 

I believe no XRC has smart shox.

I was thinking that earlier too. Doesn’t seem to be much if any open space up front. Maybe some sort of pods under the roof from aftermarket or something.

 

I don't care for the knuckle set up re looks,,, but it sure looks like she turns flat.

I think the turbo being mounted directly to the engine is pretty slick as well.

DCT,,, meh. If it turns out to be solid, that would be a cool item to have. I don't really have belt issues, so I just wouldn't want to drop the needed money for the DCT.

All the tech is cool I guess,,, just not for me. Outside of a GOOD active suspension set up,, my '19 has all the gizmos I want to worry about. Glad I have the car I do,,, this one is just not for me. I'm really glad they kept the X3 around.

Everyone complaining that it's too large,,, it's built to be a high performance desert/sand car, NOTHING else, hence the dimensions. I don't see them making a narrower version, or a 4 seater honestly. The 4 seat car defeats the purpose,, and they still have the X3 Max if you want a family cruiser Blue Bird.

I want to know how low, low gear is with the DCT I do rock crawling at times so would be nice if its capable of more than just dunes. I'll be letting a few on here get their hands on one first before I decide to pull the trigger on one.

 

That suspension should work well along with the new tranny should be slick! I Like the way it looks knuckles and all. The Power to wt. ratio maybe not so much...she's a heavy girl!

Is this a thing now in 2024? Any news about Maverick R MAX??

 

How much does that weigh (4 seater)? The 999 triple will be working hard. That being said what to indy cars pump out with there small cubic engines?

 

Looks are fine to me I’m really impressed with the narrow chassis. I’m appreciative of the motor upgrades sounds as if there will be room to expand the HP for a decent power to weigh I really don’t see the suspension improvement as monumental Unless

this car is built like the limited production runs of high output automobiles to Win on Sunday sell on Monday

personally IMO its to secure the limited class racing sanctions as several folks pointed out it doesn’t have a application on the trails back east

I might change my mind after I can see one up close so I suppose I will have to look it over at SSSS in September

Any and all. The chassis appears to have double shear front shocks.

Is there any way to determine the thickness of the chassis?. Is it the same thickness in all area's?

Any pics if it are appreciated.

I have built two Polaris RZR Turbos had a falling out with the Polaris dealership back in 2018. Went to Can Am since. Have built two different Can Am Maverick X3s. Current built have around 50k into it. After seeing the new Maverick R video I was extremely disappointed in Can Am answer to the Polaris Pro R. Don't get me wrong they did do some decent upgrades to the machine but they could have done alot better, especially for the price. Just looking at the inside of the Pro R I believe its still years ahead of the Maverick R and the Pro R is 5k cheaper. I can say from what I have seen with the limited videos and the limited information I would be going with the Pro R if I have to choose one today. I guess my opinion may change once I see one in person

 

Lets talk changes to the X3... The DS and the RS are listed as having SHOWA HPG shocks now.

 

Saw that! Showa is BIG in the dirt bike world. Interested to see how they do in the SXS world. Also wondering why BRP / Can Am went away from Fox on the X3s?

 

When I heard there was new high-performance Maverick coming out in '24 I initially thought I had made a mistake in updating my '20 XRC to a '23 XRC. Now, after seeing the '24 Maverick R I am thinking that getting the '23 was a great decision. A Maverick R is $13,000 more than a comparable X3, and I don't even see an XRC model listed. Our local dealership would add $1500 shipping, dealer prep, Doc fee, and sales tax. A Maverick R would be $50K without any accessories. I'll pass on that, thanks just the same.

I have my name on one and I’ve decided to pass. I’d want to see how one runs compared to my current car (’21 ss 2 seat, EVO stage 4). I’m going to pump the brakes and see how it runs before continuing with this blind purchase for $60k. Then, figure it’s at the shop for 2 months while they build prototype upgrades. A pro r with a turbo seems like the better choice at this moment.

 

It's interesting that they went to Gen 3 LiveValve for the R and keep the regular smart shock set up for the X3. Gen 3 live vale on the X3 would have been awesome.

I'm not in love with the R and I don't hate it. I'm curious to see real world reviews of it. But I think Can Am hit their mark of passing the Pro R spec wise to tack back the class leading title.

 

i did like how they finally came out with their own GPS/Trail app/program.. will test it out in october on a group ride we have planned

 

I used the same navigation system on a formally owned BRP Spyder......It worked ok.

 

I don't know guys, after watching the video, I like what they've done on many, many levels; isn't it pretty much what we've all been asking for for the last couple of years? More HP, more suspension, more electronic goodies, no belt, dual radiators, better brakes, etc. The trans alone could be a major game changer. I'm actually trying to think of anything that the imaginary Speed has that this doesn't . Same with the PoPo, both the Pro and the Turbo. Even the PoPo's fall short in most categories (a bit more suspension travel, but CanAm's new spindle setup both front and rear may make that a moot point). Yes, those front spindles are weird looking...but if they perform significantly better then the looks will quickly be forgotten/forgiven, and they're actually starting to grow on me a bit after watching the video, especially seeing some of the different graphics packages.

Time will tell, but I really think that Can Am delivered on this big time.

 

Excellent post! All great points, but I don’t think I can get past the look. But that’s me. I bought a Bronco OBX, instead of a Bronco Raptor because I couldn’t get past those stupid looking fender flares. Knew the Raptor was the better truck, but…..
