What do you guys think the market is for a stand-alone ecu that is plug-and-play for the Maverick? A company that I work with quite a bit is just about done with xp900 and xp1000 applications, and they are open to doing Can-Am applications if it makes sense. These guys are a large automotive electronics company that are looking to expand their market, and have the technology and resources to make it happen pretty quickly. Thoughts?

And be end user friendly so that you don't NEED to be a techno gizmo geek in order to program your car. Kinda like the EFI live platform for the cummins engines

Being as that the ECU is the one thing standing in the way of everyone who owns a Maverick from realizing any performance gains from major engine mods or a Turbo , I would say yes, there would be a lot of interest.

Yes we need more then the one that's supposedly going to be ready any day (Monster). How much is the 900 & 1000 XP one going to cost? If it's priced under $1000 that would be great!

I think something on the cheaper side would sell better, stand alone ecus are gonna be pricey. Maybe something more along the lines of the pcv but actually give u total control over the stock ecu with no limitations. It's obvious brp is going to keep their ecus locked up so investing the time to make a plug and play hack/bypass would be worth it imo. Eliminate ITC, full tb control, fan temp on temp, timing, air / fuel, bypass chipped keys should you wish, full power reverse without pushing the override, sport mode low, I'm sure we could add more .pretty much brps software that they have. Hell now that I think about it, develop a software program and there will be no need for hardware, then you can sell just that, have it linked to the vin so nobody can share it......

Guys, this will be on the higher end of the scale as far as performance and price. The Polaris units will retail for $1500-1600, the CanAm would be similar. The list of capabilities is pretty mind blowing, especially for the price. We switched to the "bigger brother" of this ecu for our race cars (has more injector and coil drivers, and a few more inputs), and it is on-par with any Pectel or Motec unit. All of them would be shipped with a base calibration to start the car and begin dyno runs. This wouldn't be an average Joe DIY type deal, but something for people that are looking for complete control of fuel and timing maps, as well as multiple boost control strategies, multi stage nitrous control, and map switching (choose different fuel/timing maps with the turn of a knob for different fuels, etc.). The ecu's have two wideband lambda inputs, dual knock sensor inputs, and built in real time diagnostics and logging (up to 20 channels at 500Hz). Here is a list..

•Airflow model based calculations
•VE-based engine startup
•Multi-fuel capable
•Flex fuel compensated – fuel, ignition and boost with blend
•Multiple boost control strategies (time, gear, vehicle speed, switch and more)
•Drive by wire
•2-step programmable launch control
•Programmable traction control, 2-wheel speed or engine acceleration
•User configurable soft-cut rev limiters
•User configurable anti-lag
•Map switching (4 Separate ignition maps, 4 separate Lambda target maps, 2 separate VE tables)
•Single stage wet or dry nitrous control
•Integrated engine protection strategies
•Target Lambda table, 10x10
•Open-loop fuel pressure compensation
•O2 lean-out protection
•2-channel adaptive knock control
•Configurable coil dwell (RPM, voltage and load based)
•Individual cylinder ignition trim (RPM based)
•Individual cylinder fuel trim (RPM based)
•3D ignition trim maps (coolant and air temp)
•Real-time sensor diagnostics
•Ignition table, 20x20
•VE airflow table, map vs. engine speed, 20x20
•User adjustable charge temperature blend (CLT/AIT, engine speed dependent)
•Idle control (stepper and pulsewidth)

With the monster one doing the same things and being just about ready, I don't think there'll be that much market for two different units for Can Am's.

Here is the info from the Monster Products website regarding the Monster ECU:

Power you ask? ......Monster Fi indeed has your solution.

From fuel tuning to full on engine tuning, Monster Fi covers all the bases and needs for any Maverick or Commander UTV. Stock to mod'd to extreme builds including nitrous, turbo and supercharger applications. There is no limitation as to what we can do for your ride. And in true fashion, its all made easy.

With a replacement ecu, NO More - throttle limitations, detuning, power limiting, torque limiting, wheel speed limiting, speed limiting or power robbing. Adjustable rev limiter, more power, more throttle response, true dual tuning, true dual independent mapping, unparalleled Monster Autotuning, data-logging, trouble free injector changes, check / clear trouble codes, all in a dirt simple package. Even available N2O control, timing retards and "Real" Turbo tuning

!!!Products intended for RACE USE ONLY!!!

Precision Fuel Tuning:

$400 cad. Fuel Monster Tuner ( FM )

Allows full re-mapping of the stock ecu fuel delivery. Including cranking fuel, warm-up fuel, cold idle, hot idle, temperature and elevation changes. The only "environment tuning" device available. Great for stock machines, with bolt on parts or full builds. Even use the dual mapping ability for use with nitrous. Connects inline to fuel injectors.

$600 cad. Tune Monster Tuner ( TMT )

Total fuel tuning independent from the stock ecu. Tunes the injectors directly allowing different injectors, fuel type, tuning from throttle or tuning from intake pressure. Best for turbo's, superchargers and N2O setups. Connects inline to ALL sensors.

Full Engine Management:

$1700 cad. Tune Monster Replacement ecu + Fuel Monster Tuner ( TMR-FM )

Allows full mapping control of fuel delivery. Including cranking fuel, warm-up fuel, cold idle, hot idle, temperature and elevation changes all from a single fuel table. (or table per cylinder) The only "environment tuning" device available. Great for stock machines to bolt on parts to nitrous setups. FM unit connects inline to fuel injectors and ecu unit replaces the factory ecu.

$1900 cad. Tune Monster Replacement ecu + Tune Monster Tuner ( TMR-TM )

Total fuel tuning independent from the TM replacement ecu. Tunes the injectors directly allowing different injectors, fuel, tuning from throttle or tuning from intake pressure. Best for turbo's, superchargers and both wet and dry N2O setups. Connects inline to ALL sensors. Replaces Stock ecu.

Auto-Tune Options

$200 cad single, $360 cad dual.

Wideband exhaust sensor kits to automatically map or tune engines, modifications and fuel used.
Autotune prices include all hardware and software levels needed.
When using the factory ecm, Autotune modules can bypass the factory closed loop system. (Closed loop or factory exhaust sensors not used with TM replacement ecu)

Replacement ecu's are preset for the user. But fully adjustable. User's just needs to tune or autotune fuel for their personal UTV and fuel used. Replacement ecu kits come with a Monster fuel tuner that allows an easy interface, autotuning, datalogging and additional programmable features.

TM repalcement ECU features:
Full engine control. = no limiters, limitations, tune fuel, ignition timing, rev limit, cooling fan and speed limit, all with total electronic throttle control.

- True Performance ECU
- Preset ecu. Plug in and ride.
- True Throttle Control with no torque reduction. User controls torque (power) just like a mechanical cable setup.
- Switchible maps on Sport Mode switch. Can be used for different octane fuels like 91 vs race fuel and/or aggressive and smooth throttle from pedal. Or even trigger a nitrous mapping.
- Lower cooling fan temperature keeps the engine temperature up to 30* cooler. Making more power and increasing the longlivity of the engine.
- Increased Rev Limit to 8750 rpm. Allows clutching to obtain peak power of even the stock engine, and ofcourse any other engine configuration or setup.
- Check and Clear engine codes. Additionally, fault codes are used for troubleshooting purposes rather than limiting the user in operation or to tune their engine the way they want. No Limp Home mode.
- Operates the stock dash just like the factory ecu.
- Removes different key uses/modes and DESS.
- Removes speed Limiter

Sounds like to players in the market would be better for us end users as in lower prices eventually.. I interested in seeing real world performance for an avg guy that doesn't have an race team backing them up with laptops lol..
