My Maverick Trail... Broken from the start.

So... I finally decided to buy a MavT, June 1 I pulled the trigger. I managed to get one ride out of it, kinda, and realized there are issues. First off, it leaks. I didn't notice this right away as the first couple weeks it was parked. But turns out it has been leaking from the start. Took it to the dealer, it has now been there going on week four and I'm being told it needs additional tear down to find the problem. So far July wasted, looks like probably good part of Aug too.

The second issue is a popping/clunk coming from what sounds like the suspension when driving a trail. Dealer says he cannot recreate the issue. hmm... From research, it would seem maybe a sway bar problem, maybe? Will have to continue on that.

Also have an issue with the original deal, not honoring the extended warranty incentive. Meaning he claims I wasn't supposed to get that incentive. Of course, this comes out after the fact even though it was discussed with multiple people. Sounds like he took the rebate for himself instead. Said, he would correct the 'mistake' but I have yet to get an extended warranty card.

So, needless to say, I'm not very happy with CanAm at the moment. I had really come to expect better from them. It's a bit beyond me how a leaking machine makes it out to a dealer and how a dealer doesn't catch it.

Sorry to hear of your leaking issues which seem isolated to your specific MavT. Mine hasn't leaked at all nor have I read of other machines here doing so. The suspension clunking might well be front swaybar end link bolt/nut (18mm IIRC) that became less than finger tight on mine and made a racket as if broken until torqued tight.

Unsure about 1June however BRP's website clearly shows current incentives in effect 6July through 31Aug:

"2018 MODELS"
Maverick Trail2-Years Coverage OR $500
Maverick & Maverick DPS 1000(2-Years Coverage + $1,500) OR $2,000
Maverick X rs 1000/X ds 1000N/A
Maverick X xc, xc 1000 & xc DPS 1000(2-Years Coverage + $1,000) OR $1,500
Maverick X mr 1000 & MAX X mr 1000$2,000
Maverick Turbo 1000/MAX Turbo 1000 (All)N/A
Maverick MAX 1000(2-Years Coverage + $1,500) OR $2,000

I figured I would chime in about mine being broken also. Not for the leakes, but for the loose/missing hardware. Mine was missing 3 screws from the driver's side door frame, 2 screws and clips from the driver's side rollbar cover where the side mirror would go, 1 screw under the hood, and all the clips that hold the hood on. Very bad quality control if you ask me.

Unsure if rebates are "instant" applicable as part of the down payment (or full price) at time of purchase or mailed to buyers at a later date. Earlier units (like mine) were eligible for extended warranty (only), wherein I did subsequently get written confirmation from Can-Am showing the adjusted expiration date. If you have continued problems with your selling dealer, I found this within Can-Am Customer Service FAQs:

PROMOTIONS AND MARKETING QUESTIONS
How can I find out what the current promotions or incentives are?
Your authorized Can-Am ATV and side-by-side dealer will have access to all current promotions and incentives.

I didn't receive a promotional discount or item, how can I get help?
Raise the issue with the dealer where you purchased the unit. If you're still having trouble obtaining any promotional discounts or items that you feel should be applicable to your purchase, get in touch with Can-Am customer service and we'll assist you.

Feel bad for your leak problem. But it will be fixed.

Your second issue is not really an issue. It's annoying that's all.

Mine stop doing it after I pumped plenty of grease in the sway bar grease zerks. I may still hear it time to time but its actually quite rare.

Missing screws/fasteners agree shouldn’t happen but it happens. The reason for PDI is to make sure when you receive the product it’s been throughly inspected, baseline suspension set, fluids checked, etc. To me it falls on the dealer more often then the manufacturer on these small issues. Especially when they charge for setup. A good dealer will walk you through the machine and help you set the suspension. Poor dealers can make any brand look bad. PDI isn’t just popping the crate off, cutting the suspension straps, and pulling the protective film.

Take our resident Polaris/X3 man Shark, he had essentially no issues with his old Poo but had a easily resolved issue with his X3 that turned into a nightmare due to a dealer not stepping up. Even though it was due to a factory mistake, all it would have taken was a quick inspection of what the customer said to look for.

Granted locking steering, axles popping out, fires, single sheer suspension mounts, spark plugs covered in too much anti-seize, voltage regulator, weep hole/water pump, etc, that goes to poor engineering and manufator problems. Tried to include some of all the manufators issues of late.

I am not anti dealer but some are better than others. Also before going irate try civil first, it’s amazing what being nice to service manger does when they are always getting bombarded with broken machines and unhappy people wanting it fixed yesterday.

Patience and kindness will be key in getting things taken care of under warranty. Most shops don't have the greatest technicians or mechanics those jobs at the dealership are not career jobs. As the technicians and mechanics gain experience they move on because the big paying jobs are not at a cycle shop. To add to that almost everything that comes back to be repaired is new and warranty and as most people are they are pissed off because their new toy broke and they had plans so they just tune out the disrespectful customer. Now the repairman dealing with an unhappy customer and scratching his head because he don't know how to find the problem much less fix it. As i have said before we are in a limited market and you will never see the quality control or support like you see in the automotive industry they just don't move as much product.

I do my own repairs on my own dime because as soon as a new machine of mine hits the garage floor the modifications begin and that puts a whole different spin on any warranty claim.

Cales, you said you do own repairs. Hi, bought 2018 maverick trail 1000. Has horrible gas smell (may be a safety issue) and now a battery drain, only 730 miles and of course off warrenty. BRP says no complaints on file for either issue. Any one know about these issues? Has anyone heard of a class action suit to get BRP to be a responsible company?
