Hey guys, I've been doing some homework on some after market beadlock rims. I'm pretty convinced that I want the Method Race 14 inch beadlocks for the sand tires i'm putting on my 2016 xDs Turbo. I like the look of them and im pretty sure ill be getting some that match on my truck as well I have a question about Wheel offset. The wheels are available in a 5+2 or a 4+3 off set. To my understanding the 4+3 off set will give be about a 2 inch gain in width per side or 4 inches total. I like the wider look. but I worry that it will be too much This all depends on if the stock wheels are the 6+1 offset like people are saying. Any input? has any one been running the methods? any pics for looks?
I'll be putting on 28" paddles to try and match stock wheel size. I know the preferred is 30" but I don't want to mess with clutching and height is an issue with my enclosed trailer.
I don't know about the sand tire, I haven't gotten those yet. I just picked up Method 401 Bead lock wheels today and will be wrapping them in MRT Race tires with kevlar tomorrow. I am running a 5+2 offset. The 28" tires will fit on my trailer. Hopefully I will get a toy hauler this later this year. How are you liking the sand tires?
I went with Method 401's in 4+3's in the rear and 5+2's on the front of my 16 XRS turbo, so as to keep the track width the same front and rear, at around 66 1/4" all around with 30" maxxis liberty's, before with 5+2's all around the rear was like 64" even.
I wish I read your post before I bought the rims. I think I'm gonna get the 4+3's for the rears and either sell the 5+2'sor keep them just in case one gets damaged. Having the set-up you have, is your width the same all around?
Thanks for the info guys. Winter is just getting over here in Idaho. The Sand Dunes open 100% on Laborday. I'll hopefully have the rims with sand tires by then. I'll update with pictures then. I like the idea of evening out the widths with the rims.
I'm glad you asked me to measure. I had no idea there was a difference. My friend races Arctic Cats and he helps me with all kinds of questions I have for SXS's. I mentioned my mistake to him. He said, I should be ok if I'm not doing any hard riding. I ride with a bunch of RZR guys. I'm gonna get the 4+3 in the rear so I don't have to hear them talk trash if they notice the difference.
Yes, that puts you at 66" plus or minus a smudge front and rear, no more than 1/4" difference, with the 5+2's in the rear, it was at least 2 1/4" narrower.
Another wheel choice that has both 4+3 and 5+2 in the same wheel is the new KMC machete.
