Sad news from the Baja 1000. I didn't know Kurt personally however my group of friends did and they all said he was an amazing kid. I helped Kurt's trainer and best friend setup his website a few years back. This will scar the Baja 1000 for years to come.

I just read about this. Seems he got taken out by some sort of "booby trap". What an absolute shame. Condolences to his friends and family.

They are not sure on the booby trap thing. I just read that the Kawasaki race team found him sitting up against a tree and his bike up with kickstand down.

It's still unclear how he passed. Some say booby trap, ditch, wash out. I don't think anyone is sure yet. He was just about to get married.

looks like he crashed by himself possibly into a small animal not a truck or booby trap

that TT hit pit crew... not kurt... the time that kurt had the accident it was stil dark...
this was BJ baldwin hitting a crewmember of other team in the pit area.
