Who offers the correct bolt kitConsider replacing or upgrading the mounting hardware for the arms, maybe buy the kit that has the proper length shoulders and bolts (full engagement).
Big question is. New cars are getting expensive. My car is starting to feel a bit sloppy and worn at 7,000 KM (~4500) miles. Rear wheel bearings need replacement, sway bar bushings are starting to get sloppy, steering rack has a bit of play, clutch is starting to get jerky, with a hard to shift from L to H or R after a sudden stop. Cured every time by driving a few feet forward and rolling to a stop.
Overall very happy with its reliability as it has been a very hard, but very well maintained 7,000 km. Ordering parts and getting everything in order as the alpine starts to open for riding. Even shortly when everything is "done" I still get a bit nervous taking a machine with that much use into some pretty remote places...
Some wondering on the condition of the frame, lots and lots of really hard hits.Shattered a stock A arm a few times... Skid plates smashed and replaced with thicker etc.
Lots and lots of bracing and gusseting (everything is double shear and gusseted by now), but still concerns.
Think I finally got the LAST remaining OEM part swapped out - at 64,000 miles, it’s about as new as it’s EVER beenBig question is. New cars are getting expensive.
We decided to rebuild our car. Add a few up grades every year.

Thanks for chiming in DD, and am glad you still check in here occasionally with your busy riding schedule!...Think I finally got the LAST remaining OEM part swapped out - at 64,000 miles, it’s about as new as it’s EVER been.

i believe the engine was rebuilt/replaced a year or two ago. Not because it died on him but because some plastic piece broke on the inside. So they replaced the entire motor for himI can’t remember, are you on the original engine and trans?
Motor got rebuilt and got a new turbo at 35,000 miles, courtesy of the the extended warranty company - plastic timing chain guide broke…SEEMS to be a common theme at around that mileage.I can’t remember, are you on the original engine and trans?
You’re definitely getting your money’s worth out of it!Motor got rebuilt and got a new turbo at 35,000 miles, courtesy of the the extended warranty company - plastic timing chain guide broke…SEEMS to be a common theme at around that mileage.
And just swapped the the motor, gearbox, and front differential at 64,000 miles - so JUST start’n on a fresh powertrain.
The last motor got run without oil due to a busted oil cooler line and some ignorance/laziness on my part; original OEM gearbox was still working okay, but the mechanic split it apart and said the bearings were wearing into the case…and the front differential got run with a water/oil mixture for a while…figured anything much past 64,000 miles was pushing my luck, so…

I was casually following your last big trip. So your new motor didn't have anything to do with the stator issues you were having?Motor got rebuilt and got a new turbo at 35,000 miles, courtesy of the the extended warranty company - plastic timing chain guide broke…SEEMS to be a common theme at around that mileage.

Exactly the debate i'm having... Do I keep and dump a bunch of money into my current machine, or bite the bullet and just buy a new one... Can't decide. I would just buy a new one but then we all know how much $$ needs to be dumped into it to build what I already have...Big question is. New cars are getting expensive.

It DID, sorta - stator got swapped THREE times on that trip, which apparently caused damage to the oil cooler hoses since they had to be moved around each time the stator was swapped.I was casually following your last big trip. So your new motor didn't have anything to do with the stator issues you were having?
LOL.. we are expecting 20,000+ by the end of 20254,242 miles so far and a chunk of that's racing and prerunning. Still going strong and I trust it enough to drive 120-160mi loops out into the middle of the mountain. OE clutch was just redone by KWI as a precaution and to reduce belt temps, engine is stock from airbox to exhaust tip and NO tune. Does have an S&B particle separator on it though. Chassis has some mild cracking starting so this winter I'll blow it all apart and gusset everything. Suspension is finally getting its first service on the 2nd of June - a little nervous about what they'll find... Goal is to get to 10k by the end of 2025!
If I combine the miles between my two X3s I am close to you. LOL!LOL.. we are expecting 20,000+ by the end of 2025
