Heartland Challenge 4 hour endurance Race video

We all went to Heartland Challenge which is by Des monies, Iowa this past weekend and raced in the 4 hour UTV endurance race. Our group has 3 sidexisde xp, and 2 mavericks, XP was acting funny and got parked and the mavericks both lost wheels ( i think every maverick lost a wheel). There was alot of Can Am's there, I have to give props to can am for supporting the race. I believe if you won and were driving a can am you got a extra 1k. XP's ended up getting 1st and 2nd though. It was a great time and I encourage anyone if there close to race next year or at least go. They were flying threw the pits at 60mph +. The dust was the worst thing, it was terrible. The tree section was very tight and not a lot of passing opportunities. We will be back next year for sure. Enjoy the video.

Awesome video....do you know if the Maverick ever got around the XP1000? I saw another video from onboard the Mavrick where he was on it's tail for a long time. It actually ripped the rear bumper off of the XP1000....
I think on UTV UG someone posted the Mav got around the XP1000 but then broken by losing a wheel. Seems to be common problem on the Mav's that are racing.
Yes the maverick passed the xp1000 multiple times, maverick blew 2 belts, we ended up leaving clutch cover off cause it was building so much heat. If you watch maverick vs xp1000 video the maverick passes the xp1000 and gets behind a xp900
Also watch towards the end of this video the maverick makes a awesome pass at night on a xp900
We took fourth overall in our 800R Commander! We had third overall in the bag but unfortunately only got 4 gal. in during our pit so we had to stop for the extra gal. putting us back to 4th over all! We destroyed the stock class and had a blast! Couldn't be happier with our little engine that could! Can-Am all the way! Always feels good to beat the majority of those endless money open guys with our little old 800! haha We got to give a big shout out to Hicklin Power Sports and our boys over at Racer Tech that helped me to get our Fox 2.0's Dialed in with their Dual Rate Springs! (they are currently working on them for the Mav's!) and one last shout out to the guys at Lazer Star lights that got us all set-up before the race and Can-Am for having one of the best machines on the market! We will be headed out to the Ironman GNCC race in Indiana Oct. 26th anyone goin to make it?
Good deal, I hope i got you guys in the video. I had a ton of footage but I can't put everything in the video.
Am I the only one who thinks its kind of funny that a stock XP900 won?

Team Cabana Motorsports Wins 2013 Heartland Challenge

What is the definition of "stock". Did it have the original tires, shocks, clutching, roll cage etc.....? Also, they had Doug Gust as a driver.....that says a lot!

What do you mean "losing a wheel"? Whats the common problem wheels, hubs, studs, or is it just tires?
Stock is bone stock motor/clutch with stock shocks and wheels (can us X wheels and shocks) tires and springs are allowed so we run racer tech springs and Kenda Bearclaw HTR's and our own custom bed delete with rad relocate. basically no performance enhancing mods! Here are the exact rules!

UTV only Rules:
850 Limited Class
0-850cc Production UTV (Stock, allows for changes to tires, wheels, bumpers and skid plates, air box and exhaust. No suspension or internal motor modifications allowed—no motor modifications besides airbox/filter and exhaust. No ignition or rev limiter changes allowed.) this list explains what you CAN change. If it's not on the list above, you're NOT allowed to change it. A basic guideline: if it makes your machine faster or handle better, or improves suspension, it's not legal in the Limited classes. We do allow pipe and airbox changes, but they provide little performance gain in a UTV. Clutch and ignition changes are NOT allowed, and if your stock UTV had a speed governor or rev limiter built into the black box, you must use it. Yamaha Rhinos that come with reservoir shocks (SE models) are legal, and yes you can put those shocks on a non-SE Rhino and still race the Limited class.

850 Modified Class
0-850cc Production UTV
(Production Rule, must be matching engine/frame combination. Engine and suspension modifications legal) No turbos, Blowers or extreame engine mods

OPEN UTV
Any motor size, any engine mods or addons, any suspention mods or addons alowed.

I have heard alot of racers are breaking the hub end? which has a bolt that holds the hub on? Not sure exactly but have heard it has happen quite a bit on the Mav's. In fact I think it also happened to a guy at the WORCS race in Pala a couple weeks back .
And yes the rear axles are definitely the issue right now for the Mavs but everyone is working feverishly on the correct fix and once it is perfected they will be hard to touch the Mav's were hauling the mail! that is for user!
At 3 min even we are the ones on the tail!

Thanks for clarifying....so did a bone stock 900 win the Open class?
Read the link I posted

I figured I didn’t have anything to lose by racing the Heartland. I talked to Gust to get his help driving and we brought down my bone stock Polaris RZR XP 900 and were able to get it done. We really had a great time. This is my first win and it is absolutely huge to earn my first win at such an amazing race,” said UTV owner Andy Bizeck.

Wow...very impressed. Congrats to those guys. I don't care what you are driving, the guys in the video were hauling ass! Looks like so much fun....

What's better is a bone stock 900 won and not a XP1000:) Plus Can-am kicked ass Thanks to Hicklin Power Sports. Had the clutch issues not have happened and the tires had stayed on a Mav might have won :)

What am I missing. Why are the Mav's known to be losing wheels? Where is the weakness?
On the rear hubs which can am calls uprights under racing or severe use the axle stubs are breaking which leads to a wheel flying off. I have talked to multiple vendors and they will be a fix soon, I even heard can am was looking to address this flaw
