For those who have done your own 10 hour PM: Is your Gearbox Level Plug plastic?

Mine was/is plastic and broke when I took it out. Hard to imagine a reason for a plastic plug in that location and application? I would think it would be brass like the plugs on both the front and rear diffs...

I knew I was doing something wrong!

It actually broke coming off. It might have already been cracked and upon further inspection it appears to be a bad part. There was a pea sided void in the middle of the fastener right where the thread meets the head. But I still can't see the reasoning for a plastic plug?

Mine was finger tight and leaking, and was plastic.
That's the problem with a plastic fastener in an application like this, especially with an o-ring behind it. Tough to keep it from coming loose because you can't tighten too much or it will break. Unfortunately, I haven't yet been able to find a brass or aluminum replacement...
