I have a 2013 Maverick 1000R and I have a Check Engine Light with a few minor codes dealing with fuel delivery. I would like to reset or clear the ECU with the battery terminals unhooked for a while, basically draining all power from the unit but I am wondering if this is safe with the BPI Tuner installed? I am not all that familiar with tuners and want to avoid having to take it to a dealer for reprogramming or anything.

Can someone enlighten me on any tuning experience please?
Will clearing the ECu require reprogramming of the factory BPI tuner?

I dont think you can clear an ecu without BUDS. Now you should be able to clear codes with a tuner. Best bet is to call manufacturer of the tuner tomorrow and ask.

THank you, I will contact BPI and see what they say. My unit is out of warranty so I was trying to do this myself to save money. I thought I read an earlier post about removing the pos and neg ends of the battery cables from the battery and attaching them to each other for 30 minutes to clear it but maybe that doesn't really work?
