Cause I wanna see it, id be scared to launch my boat with a sxs. Although I've seen a small pantoon launched with a teryx
Well tell you what when I get the chance to figure out how to get my sig pic up I do have a video of me launching my boat with the Mav no issues at all..that's a 19'6" Sea Doo Speedster 200 and total weight with trailer is 2600lbs+...don't get me wrong I'm not going down a boat slip this is on the shore right by my home and about a 20% decline to the water so I have no fear of the weight of the boat dragging me backwards.

Icky, i read earlier in this thread that you extended your commander back in 2010. I have looked on this forum and the commander forum and i did not find any write up about it. I was wondering if you could tell me where to look if you did do a write up about stretching your rear differential back.
Thank you

the reason there is no lag is completely due to size, how tight the compressor housing is and the turbine housing. you can clearly see how small it is with the hp that it make.

That's because I'm lazy, everytime I start to do one I get side tracked. I also lost half my pictures when I fried one of my phone a few years back. I'll find you some links and pm them to you

It would appear in my opinion that the new turbo maverick is using very low boost 3 to 5 psi and that the ecu is pulling even that little boost out of the engine after 6000 rpm. From all the chassis dyno charts i have seen a stock maverick makes about 71 to 73 rwhp, which translates into approximately a 28% drive train loss based on 101 crank hp. I copied the chassis dyno run posted by RBT for his beautiful 1108 Big Bore motor . I know that the new maverick is not going to be as strong as this 1108 BB motor however i believe it shows the potential that is available to someone like MR.RPM or EVO to reprogram the ECU on the new maverick. Based on the drive train loss i calculate that the 1108 BB motor is producing 210 hp and 140 lb ft @ 7850 rpm at the crank. These number were generated at 15 psi boost by RBT. I just think BRP used the absolute lowest boost to get a number( Only 11 hp) more than polaris but will be able to keep adjusting the ECU in the future.

1108 MCX Turbo Mav

Had a great time with Kevin Barnes at Get Torqued tuning my turbo Maverick. It was also a pleasure meeting his friend Stan and watching them tune his wicked drag renegade on the dyno.
We installed and dyno tuned the 1108 low compression motor that Kevin built for me using all the good stuff he recommended to make it reliable and durable including; fully balanced assembly and cryo hardened crank, pinned main bearings, Carrillo rods, custom high boost Carrillo pistons from TheBomracing Jeff Ross, ARP head studs
Boost is provided by an MCX turbo kit and Kevin added a blow off valve and a boost T
We were not sure what the little mitsubishi turbo that was provided with the kit was capable of but with a little tuning Kevin was able to extract an impressive 150 RWHP and 100 lb/ft of torque at a very conservative 15 psi and 7850 RPM. In order to achieve higher numbers (which the motor would easily be capable of) we would need to upsize the turbo and injectors.
The little turbo spools up quick with almost no lag, the mav easily pulls the front wheels on pavement from a dead stop in low and even carries them for a ways in high when you can get enough traction, it is a ton of fun to drive. Still working out some details with the clutching.

I apologize it is RTB is the person that had this beautiful motor put together.

This is located in the forced induction part of this forum. I am not very skilled at how to use the forum however i believe if you click on the above link it will show you the video and pictures of this beautiful build. I know the new motor will not be as strong as this 1108 BB however i think it really shows the true potential of the new turbo maverick. i think that 175 hp at the crank will be real easy with a little tuning and maybe bigger injectors.

an xp can do drop in cams and make the same power as the turbo mav ds. that should tell you all you need to know. you can knock popo all you want to, but ultimately they have been in the sxs game much longer and have WAY more expierence then can am can dream of. they have sleds in the 175hp range that don't have any issues. everyone gets lemons, Friday machines ect. look at general motors with over 11 million recalls this year and not they stopped production on the vette because of the airbag issue. chit happens to any brand, but Polaris can easily obtain the power the new ds is making without a turbo simply do to the aftermarket industry they have

But the question is how many miles before they would start smoking lol? Out of the 10 guys I know with a polaris sxs 6 of them has had to rebuild there topends before 3000 miles I can't see a crapstar lasting with boost

3000 miles on a sxs motor is a lot depending where you ride. that is like 6yrs worth of riding for us mud guys. its like 6 months for every weekend duners

Note the turbo Maverick engine has forged pistons and probably lots of other things to strengthen it.
Polaris would have to do the same.
They all have their mulligans and demons, glad to see the industry and all makes expand their lines.
I'd like to own one of each.

yes they have forged internals but there is still different durability in forged internal. also they could lower the compression ring on the piston and run more boost. its simple and hard at the same time. most rods on a gas motor wont hold the higher psi turbos. I would be interested in the compression ratio on the new turbo model. that alone will tell you if you can add a little more boost to it or not.

Who really cares what you can buy from the aftermarket to boost HP, this battle that Polaris and Can am are in is the best thing that can happen to the consumer. We are going to get better and better machines at a cost you could not touch trying to build with aftermarket parts. If it is true you can buy a turbo base Maverick for 22000.00 just try and build that with aftermarket parts for that with all the other mods you get. There will always be I can buy this or that and make more HP. but I will buy a factory built turbo setup before I would touch some aftermarket kit that has been rushed onto the market just to sell something. This Can am and Polaris war is just like the battle in the truck market with the big three, we all gain by this. We should be thinking Can am for there hard work for only after 3 years going after the RZR has set the bar very high and building a top of the line machine, Yes Polaris will fire back in short order with more HP and I can't wait, I love this stuff. Sign me up for the new Maverick!!

Exactly!! well said.

For the amount of money these things are starting to cost you can buy a nice used sandrail. Hell the BFD Revo is 31k and wouldn't need a new cage seats clutch etc. Yes all this is good for the sport, but if I'm spending 22 k + they're gonna have to do better then adding a faster hampster, and changing the trailing arms again on the same commander frame with maverick plastics

Has anyone seen the sdr builds? Big bore boosted motors. 200+ hp......to the wheels. Just sayin

Will see them this weekend at the Sand Show.
