Has anyone started a thread on running bigger tires for the X3? What fits? What works? What needs to be done? Clutch job? Lift? I couldn't get the search function to work. I'd like to run bigger tires on a DS.

Just ordered some 32” Tensor Regulators for my stock bead locks. I’ll post pics once they are on!

Another forum member has the Tensor Regulators on stock wheels and I love the look.

So I'm looking at some 30" tires that will be durable for driving on pavement. So far I like the STI X Comp, the new System 3 RT320 and the BF Goodrich KM3 UTV tires. Both the STI and the System 3 say that they exceed DOT requirements, does that mean they'll wear better on pavement than a non-DOT tire? Let me know if any of you have other ideas in mind and what you think of the tires I've listed.

Then why not be DOT approved? Cost and or red tape thing for the manufacturer? I love my regulators (dot) as I feel better running 60mph on pavement in between trails vs a non DOT tire...but maybe something like above would work for me too?

Just joined the big tire group..................

32" Maxxis Carnivores
14 x 7" (5/2 offset) RM Tusk Teton Beadlocks

Mounting tires on beadlocks was pretty straight forward, sealed up nice. Got them mounted on the machine but ran out of time to test drive. Width is now 66", should still be able to clear gates, and ground clearance is 16". Can't wait to take a test rip!

I have a set of stock 30" Liberty's off my XRC that I am going to sell. Only 250 miles on them. Mostly sand miles.

got some 32" XT300 from System 3 and system 3 wheels. Looks really mean. cant wait to see how they handle the snow.

Totally agree! Went with factory front tire for spare, although its a 29" tire (and I'm running 32's), if I blow a tire or wheel say a rear, will just need to move front tire to rear and put smaller spare on front. Plus it fits pretty good with the snorkels :big smile:

Nice setup. I was considering those tires as well. I just thought I wanted a little more aggressive.

Not hard to mount them. The longest process is torquing the beadlock ring.

I take the wheel and put it on a Home Depot bucket. Soap up the wheel and tire and it slips right on.

I just mount them myself. It takes about 15 minutes per tire after you get the hang of it. That includes about 3 laps around the beadlock ring with the torque wrench. Some tire assembly lube helps, which you can get at Napa or amazon.

For breaking the bead to get the old tire off, I have a set of MotionPro bead breaking tire irons. They are mainly for motorcycle tires, but they work pretty good on UTV tires as well. There are some combos of wheel/tire though where its too much work so I just go to the tire shop after I have the beadlock ring off and they pop the bead for a couple bucks.

I also mounted them myself, not complicated at all.

I'm looking for suggestions for rally racing applications, I'm using Method 15" beadlock rims and I'm undecided between kr2 30" tires and the tensor 32".

Which tires do you guys recommend for gravel, asphalt, dirt roads, basically a tipical rally stage with mixed terrain.

I'm really interested on the tensor ones, but I'm afraid to loose low end torque with bigger than stock tires, I would gain a little bit of top end speed, but I might be slower in u turns and tight corners.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Also guys gotta keep in mind that its not just the resting weight of the tire you have to consider, but that the centrifugal force of the larger diameter makes the torque required to accelerate, stop, and turn such a large tire exponential.
