belt slip

yesterday we were playing with my maverick and all of a sudden the strap seems to start to slip. the belt slips (the noise sounds like the belt's teeth scrape somewhere) and it needs to accelerate a lot for the car to start moving, but when it picks up speed it seems to tighten the belt (not 100%).

I already had a problem with a broken belt a few months ago, and the bearing clutch also broke and I didn't change it. will it be possible to bear the transmission? I was told that when this bearing breaks, it is related to the stretching of the belt.

your secondary clutch is broken..
spring or roller failure causing loose belt....properly working system the belt is ALLWAYS very tight.

I will check, in this case I will only have to change the spring? or does it usually break something else together when the spring is damaged?
are evo springs good? my can am has 250hp(estimated), i saw the springs that hold 275+, it will be enough to hold.

taking advantage of the topic, I would like to post links to evo products that I am thinking of buying. I had to send my maverick 450km away, so I'll leave the necessary time idle to make my transmission 100% reinforced.

(ST-275 | 2017-21 | 250-275HP)

in my understanding, this kit is a complete kit for primary clutch. but I saw that the rollers are not coming.

secondary springs, it seems there is a difference in torsion by the colors. the purple one is medium twist, says it can handle +275hp

helixes evo, nothing much to say. since I'm reinforcing it, I think it's worth buying

secondary rollers, which are all broken

where do i find the primary rollers?

The ultimate clutching package comes with the helix for the secondary so you wont have to buy it individually. I recommend ordering that kit by phone so you make sure you get the weights you need and the helix angle you want for the power you have.

The purple spring should be great but since you're on the phone for the other kit already, double check with them.

In regards to the rollers you chose.. I have those and think they are good but their pins use a different bolt size (if you ever have to remove them) than even their own tool comes with, which is something you need to be aware of.

No issues with either of the 2 belts I changed in the last 2 months.

About 3 months ago my wife was driving the Trail and heard “belt stuttering” ( her words) when accelerating from a stop. I couldn’t replicate the stuttering at that time; but did hear belt slipping when accelerating from a stop, especially on an incline. I replaced the belt with an “OEM” belt from Rocky Mtn. Still slipped. A friend suggested another belt with same part number, but with different number series on the ribs. I installed that belt last week and put 10-15 miles of soft driving on it. The belt I replaced still looked new.
Then I took it on a fairly technical climb last Saturday over challenging terrain and was surprised that my Trail did well - in low gear and mostly with 4WD engaged. But, the belt stuttering soon returned in high gear only and only when accelerating from a stop. I’d like to zero in on the “probable” root cause to order (and receive in Mexico) parts before dismantling clutches.
My secondary clutch has only 2 rollers which has been reported as an issue with premature failures on Trails. I’m wondering if mine is another victim.
I’d appreciate any suggestions to help narrow down the root cause(s).

It sounds like your secondary rollers, Detailed video on the Trail secondary rollers is on post linked below.

Thanks. I’ve come to the same “tentative” conclusion after reading several posts on different sites. The problem as reported by others is that with only 2 rollers in the secondary on the 1000 cc engine, too much stress results causing premature failure. I plan to mount 28” tires (vs the 26” stock) anyway to give me a little more ground clearance. This will require changing the helix, cam and rollers to accommodate.
So, I will see if one of those parts has failed and I’ll report back.
