I'm not a 100% sure, but I don't think it really matters what direction its is put on when new. Just keep it in that same direction after it has been ran.

 

It doesnt matter first time use. Just maintain the direction after 1st use.

 

Really? Put the new belt in with the arrows facing the wrong direction as it came from the factory. If I put it in the way the manual says, will it shorten the belt life? Not sure I am following the logic.

 

NO! do not install the new belt that way. The comment was referring to if your belt was okay (in spec.) and you were to continue to run it.

The arrow is suppose to point in the direction of the way the clutch turns, which is counter clockwise, at least that's how mine is. One thing I don't know is why there is arrows on the primary pointing opposite of the way it turns.

It really was good to do a dry run in the garage. Now I have all the proper tools to make this job much easier for me if I had to do it on the trail. I am use a small 1/4 inch ratchet with socket for the 4 bolts on the bottom. If Can AM had made a access panel on the skid plate that could be removed with 2 bolts, it would have been ideal to make the job a piece of cake. I also got a bunch of new clips as some got destroyed while taking the covers off. Will break in the belt easy over the next 30 or so miles

 

Git a ratchet wrench, the one that is rigged. You can do it through the holes in the skid plate. Also if you can find a 8" flex on a batt drill, with a little practice
you can have that cover off in no time. shoe

I am using a ratchet and it works beautifully. I can have the cover off pretty quickly now. Working on being able to take it off even more quickly. Will keep you posted if the tool I am thinking about works.

I have a Max and getting to the belt isn't all that tough as long as you've got plenty of patience a double jointed wrist for those bottom torx screws a bunch new plastic rivets and those other plastic gadgets under the rivets that offer break, have plenty of various tools on board to remove the seat, Side paneling, plastic floor, some new rubber elbows for the outer clutch cover cooling duct tubes ( they will tear and or fall apart easily especially if a few years old) etc, oh yeah and the new belt and spreader tool, LOL.

 

Would be nice if they had some type of clip pin in the bottom holes, where you could just pull the pins in the bottom and unbolt the top.

I think he wants the quick pins on the belt box . It would be faster than bolts to remove but might be harder to install to get the pin's in the holes in a spot that's hard to see . And would the pins hold the cover tight enough to be water proof . ??

 

The annoying part with the max is removing the rear seat and floor boards. After that the process is similar to the 2 seater. But I will have to look at the 2016 quick access setup.
