I have a 2019 XRS and I wanted to change out my belt pre-emptively and keep the old one as a backup.

I remember reading that the job was a ton easier with the right tool versus the stock tool Anyone have a recommendation for one? I also kind of remember it was pretty pricey. Not sure if there are cheaper options by now?

Amazon has many of these at around 40, 50 bucks. I gambled on a cheaper unit and it works just fine and 500% better than OEM.

Just type in can am x3 belt changing tool in amazon and there are several.

the quick change types are not perfect
the long handle makes the job more difficult
if you have a cordless impact the oem works sweet
the evo gizmo for the bolt is also nice
because the oem tool does mark up the helix quite a bit

Not sure why the handle would make the quick change tool difficult; it works quickly and easily for me. They're all over the internet for +/- $30.

I got a cheap puller seized in my secondary and it was a PITA getting it out. The OEM tool and a penny is pretty damn easy to get the belt in and out.

Nothing hard about the OEM tool.Use a penny as stated.

Ouch!!! I suppose cheap soft threads on the tool were the issue?

If I was changing belts all day long, I would want the afternarket ones. For an occasional belt change, stock factory tool works just fine. It also takes up less room

Out of spec threads. They squeaked in on the last turn.

Damn, that sucks. I guess it would be a smart thing for anyone who buys an aftermarket tool to screw it all the way in to their secondary to verify the threads!

Penny under the bolt so it doesn't chew things up on the secondary. Sacrificial penny if you will. Still don't have my car but have been doing homework

Put a coin between the torx end of the puller and the helix.

I just recently got the aftermarket one from Amazon, I’ve used it 3 or 4 times now. It’s way easier and faster then using a penny, I’ve had the penny work itself out before and then is scratched up the helix. I can have the belt off in seconds.
the downfall is it’s bigger so takes up more room be careful when releasing it, I wasn’t paying attention and forgot it had the tension from the clutch spring and it smashed my thumb good! Hurt for 3-4 days. I wish I got one sooner. No issues with

lol I'll check it later, I saw in another thread on here they revised the tool someone posted a pic. I can't find it now though.
