Im new to posting on here but have been reading since i bought my xds turbo in march. Mine has started very slowly since new like most people. My bike currently has only 104 miles on it, only been in trails twice. We mainly use it to pull racecar at track. Well yesterday i went out with friends in trails/mud and now the starting is terrible. We all took about a 5min break after about 30min of hard riding, go to start it and cranks slower then ever and wont start. Let it cool for 20min and it barely started. Ride back to camp and turn off, try to start again with it hot, barely cranks. 30min later it starts. Go riding again and turn it off and it wouldnt start even an hr later. Jumping doesnt help and jump box did nothing. Even tried another guys battery and no different. My lights are plenty bright so i dont think its a voltage thing. This is bs to pay 23k for this machine and it wont even start. Taking it to dealer tomorrow, not sure how they will be about it. Any thoughts?

I tell ya BRP warranty has gone for shit .. When I bought my outy in 2006 they were good to deal with . Any grief I had they took care of me . Ever since then the way they treat us has been getting worse by the year .

I have spent plenty with brp and really feel let down sometimes
Six brp sleds / down to 2 at the moment
One outlander
One commander
One maverick
One seadoo
And get screwed over at least 60% of the time and I have paid big bucks on extra warranty .
It might be time to jump to a new ship

Mine has slow started from day one. I switched to AmsOil 0w-40 signature series oil and the starting got much easier. I'm gonna catch hell for this but the biggest help was adding amsoil sabre 2 stroke oil to my fuel, at .5 oz per gallon its 256:1 mix, Immediately it the starting issue was gone. and my fuel mileage has increased substantially. I did google research for about a month before i went that route and im loving it.

You are correct - you ARE going to catch hell for this. There is no way adding some plug-fouling 2 stroke oil is going to help anything. It's just silly to believe that. I won't even go into all the reasons this is not going to help. Anybody with even a little mechanical common sense can tell this won't help anything except carbon up your plugs faster.

I'v been A.S.E. certified for over ten years and i do have a bit of mechanical common sense, while your up on your pedistal it may be hard to read what i wrote but at 256:1 it poses 0 threat to my plugs or anything else for that matter, and being full synthetic it does not leave any more carbon deposites behind than the shitty gas we get at the pump. it adds i very slight amount of lubricity to my fuel and. its not mixed at a working two stroke ratio. i can take criticism but theres no need to be condescending towards others for their theories.

I also dont believe there is an internal issue with this thing bad enough to cause this cranking issue. The motor ran fine once started. I race and build very high hp cars and am very mechanically inclined (greg i race with your buddy kevin several times a year). I just talked with canam themselves and they told me their advisor that went over the case made the final call that they will not cover it because its a high performance machine and motor got dust in it. Hmmm i didnt know i bought a machine that couldnt go in dirt. So here i am trying to figure out my next step. I guess i have to call an attorney...

Almost 2 months and still sitting here with my machine at dealer in pieces. Brp is absolutely the worst company ive ever owned anything from. They still refuse to help and cant even talk to anyone higher up in company. What would you all do if in this situation on a denied warranty claim for a high dollar repair that is not your fault?

Several posts up i had posted that after throwing parts at it with no resolution brp told dealer to tear motor apart. Upon taking it apart they say there are scuffs in it and it needs a new motor. Brp says dust got past their factory filter and denying warranty. Machine looks like new and barely has 100 miles on it and 100% stock.

Can anyone tell me why the turbo mavs crank over slower than the no turbo mavs . The turbo mav has a lower compression than the standard mav . I know this for sure because if I turbo my 2014 mav I need to put the lower compression Pistons in so I don't get detonation ..

How close is the exhaust manifold in relation to the starter?
If the starter is getting heat soaked from the exhaust, its gonna be hard to start after its hot. Might have to wrap the starter in a heat shield blanket.......
I haven't tore into the plastics yet to see where the starter is situated.......

I picked the pos up on tuesday. In a million pieces from dealership. Neither them or canam will help. They wouldnt even give me the new starter they had put on it. There final determination was that dirt went in motor. Upon looking at pistons and jugs, there are no gouges or anything in bores. And pistons look totally fine minus carbon buildup on tops. Main and rod bearings have some slight marks on them but honestly not anything that would make it not crank. I have talked to a local motorcycle performance guy and he thinks the hot cranking issue on mine is due to a connection on the starter solenoid itself or the starter wire. Says he has seen that lots of times on quads/sxs. Some dirt/dust definitely did go into the intake due to the fact the turbo wheel is dusted on the edges. Pretty crappy the factory unaltered airbox/filter allowed that to happen. So at this point im left with a brand new 20k plus machine sitting on my trailer and the back of my suv full of boxed of engine/driveline parts all disassembled and trying to figure out what to do. I can say this has left a huge sour taste in my mouth and my opinion of brp is absolutely horrible. Thoughts?

I have a lot of experience in the court system so I don't throw this out there blindly, but I'd highly recommend you consider taking legal action. If your state has a small claims court that might be your best and cheapest course of action. Nothing like a notification to appear in court to get a company's attention. BRP fully realizes that the cost of legal fees to fight you in court will likely be as high as or even more than the warranty claim, so hopefully this will persuade them to take care of your issue. I know this can be both time consuming and expensive, but at this point I don't think you have much to lose.

I find it hard to believe any judge would not side with you. It's very , very disappointing this discussion is even happening. I hope you get this resolved and are made whole in regards to the machine and any money you are out.

Yeah im looking into the small claims thing now. Do you guys think i should try to sue just canam or the dealer also? I absolutely did not ask them to tear the thing all the way down, they did it on their own and gave it back in boxes.(i wouldnt even know where to start trying to reassemble now). I really thought the dealer would try to work with me but didnt offer a thing. Was very hard to not flip out on them.

It really saddens me to see that the dealer has not stepped up to the plate. Our dealer has seen similar issues, and actually pushed warranties and paid for repairs out of their own pockets. I would definitely warn people of this dealership, because if they really want to take care of you, they could. I know cause I use to be in charge of warranties at our dealer when I worked there full time. This whole situation speaks of some serious "passing the buck" and not wanting to take care of the customer. Sorry, and good luck.

I am an Outlander 1k XMR owner and wanted to comment on this. I also live in St.Louis area and Big St.Charles is a load of crap.

They do not have any BRP certified Techs and from what I understand to cut deals they have their salesman assemble the bikes (not that there is that much too them).

When I was shopping for my bike I put a deposit down waited over a month or so. Then when the wrong color came in they told me "Sorry Manta Green is a 500 dollar option and we wont eat that" after I had already put down a deposit for with a record that I had ordered Manta Green. Took for ever to get my deposit back too.

Stopped in several times to get basic maintenance parts and they have never had anything in stock, from air filters, oil filters even clutch bolts which need to be replaced each time.

Ended up going to Cowtown down I44, owner is on site they are #1 in the region for customer satisfaction as well. That being said, I had one warranty claim under my factory 6 months and canam made me pay for the repair up front and then I would get reimbursed to get my bike back. Sounds like the dealership is trying to double dip, but after a few weeks and calling they did refund me and cut me deals on parts when I needed them.

My bike is currently at St.Charles Power Sports for work and since they have a canam franchise at the Stl. Powersports location I think I will be going there from now on. Was wanting to get a SXS come spring to upgrade from a bike I have 16k in. But after reading all this is will likely just be a Polaris Ranger Highlifter.

Carry on or PM if you want to chat about your situation any since I am local.
