Im new to posting on here but have been reading since i bought my xds turbo in march. Mine has started very slowly since new like most people. My bike currently has only 104 miles on it, only been in trails twice. We mainly use it to pull racecar at track. Well yesterday i went out with friends in trails/mud and now the starting is terrible. We all took about a 5min break after about 30min of hard riding, go to start it and cranks slower then ever and wont start. Let it cool for 20min and it barely started. Ride back to camp and turn off, try to start again with it hot, barely cranks. 30min later it starts. Go riding again and turn it off and it wouldnt start even an hr later. Jumping doesnt help and jump box did nothing. Even tried another guys battery and no different. My lights are plenty bright so i dont think its a voltage thing. This is bs to pay 23k for this machine and it wont even start. Taking it to dealer tomorrow, not sure how they will be about it. Any thoughts?

Sorry to hear this....It's been an issue with the Xds turbos from day one and nothing is getting done about it...I will admit for some reason mine still cranks a bit slow

when warm but since I got the MrRPM re-flash for some reason it got better..not perfect but deff better than it was stock...good luck with the dealer hope he can finally

get to the bottom of this ongoing issue.

Ha, i hope they try to tell me its not a big deal. I literally am embarrassed to take this high dollar pos out anymore in fears that it wont start. I finally went out to trailer to start it tonight and it started but slower then ever before when totally cold. I had plans to do a ton of power upgrades to this thing very soon but now i dont want to even look at it.

There's a big difference with a slow start and not starting at all. There hasn't been many at the dealers that don't start at all Atleast around here. My guess there wasn't enough warranty Non start issues. To raise a red flag with Canam. For the most part Canam. Is on top of sending out recalls to fix there known problems Just think you could have bought a pos Polaris. Lmao With a long known problem list that they won't recall any of them

Mine used to start slowly, I tried adding a full sized car battery and it still turned slow. As the machine aged, the problem became less and less. Just did a 200 mile ride and it never turned slowly at all. About 2500 miles on it and the problem seems to have gone away.

I thought it was just us with the machine starting easier as we put more miles on it. We have a little over 1400. I thought that driving around on black volcanic rock at the Cinders with the air temp at 82 degrees F would bother it but it didn't. I had no idea what the ground temp was.

My XDS does the slow start thing too. Not super slow, but enough to make my wife and I to look at each other and say "What the hell was that?" I know the Ski doo 2- stroke sleds have a different tune in them for the first 500 miles or so. I cant see a tune changing the slow turn over of the starter/motor however. If these things need a "break in" to loosen up to start better then the rings are wearing or the engine is warping causing more friction with the rings or bearings somewhere. Thankfully we do not here a lot about turbo motors expiring early so this does not seem to be the case. Has anyone replace the battery cables with much larger gage wire? Maybe Can Am is saving money by using less copper wire? Has anyone checked compression on the motors comparing a loose motor to a new motor?

Havent had a chance to take it to dealer yet but i have been checking the starting on it the past 2 nights. Same reaults each time. If it is totally cold it will start, but starts slower then normal. Let it sit and idle for 10min it gets between 3-4 bars on temp. Try to start it and it barely turns over about 4 times and then just stops. Same as how it did when the initial problem happened. And it did it both nights i tried it. I just want to be sure it is going to do the same thing when i take it to them. So fed up with this thing.

I went riding last night with my turbo just to test this out. Mine only has 115 miles on it now, but I ran it kind of hard to get the temp gauge up to 4 bars (5 bars for a short time) and shut it down for a couple mins. Hit the button and it started right up like normal. The problem has to be the starter, I just don't know why some are bad and others are fine.

Just got off phone with dealer, they said its a interuptor switch causing my problems... i highly doubt some interuptor switch (he couldnt tell me exactly what it does) is causing it to crank slow. And he also said the battery was dead after sitting for 2 wks waiting to be looked at so they are putting a new batt on. I highly suspect it will still crank slow after they put this "switch" on. Any thoughts?

Update: the dealer ended up putting on a new starter. Still had same cranking problems when hot. So they called canam and canam told them to do a leakdown and some voltage tests. They say it has a high amp draw and canam told them to tear motor down. Upon teardown they say there is scuffs on cylinders and bearings. Canam says dirt got in motor. This thing is a 100% stock motor and induction. It only has 100 miles and 95 of those atleast have been on pavement. The thing has not been abused at all and looks new. Canam is saying they will not stand behind it in any way even though it was only 3 months into the 6 month warranty. Im beyond livid and very dissapointed in this company and will be getting a lawyer involved if they dont change their mind. The dealer is 100% behind me but they havent had any luck with canam on it. Any thoughts?

Wow !! So I guess my machine has scored cylinders since day 1 ?

It still starts slow with 3 bars or more on dash temp. Last weekend I push starter button, got 1 quick turn over, then there was at least a 4 second delay before engine turned over 2nd time and fired up. It's bit worrisome.

Yeap, get a lawyer. What a shame BRP.
