I purchased this car new and within 15 miles I started to get limp home code PO363 . But it only happens at my house which the elevation is 4000 ft. At glamis which is sea level I did not get one code. It has been at the dealer for 3 weeks sitting there since Can Am has failed to get back to the technicians . They decided to put a clutch kit in it since I have 35s to eliminate the belt slippage and the car through the code again once I got it back home . The dealer is also sea level. I have replaced the Spark plugs , new belt . Swapped map sensors with a known good one and still getting the code . Dealer is picking car up again this week , but I am losing faith in them . Car has 300 miles on it and I paid over 50k for it and it is worthless. Anyone have any ideas ? It seems directly related to elevation. Thanks I’m advance !!

as you found out misfire codes are not easy to cure
and you did not give us all available info
also the p0363 is not misfire code but is the ecu
seeing multi misfires and then turning of the fuel to that cyl
canam locked the ecu on the 21 models so most tools
we use does not work on it
what cyl/s had the misfire codes
many times all three have misfire and that is usually bad fuel
there are a few threads similar to yours you can read

I gave all the info I was privy too at the time . Car is a 2021 and it has done this since new . The dealer said cylinder 3 this week . They replaced injector and coil pack and still goes into limp mode . They also replaced the fuel. Cars been in the shop for 30 days . It’s time to get a lawyer .

Just got off the phone with my dealer. He is 99% sure it’s the flywheel. In fact there are 3 other 2021 X3’s in there for the same thing. They have also have no ETA for a new correct batch of flywheels to ship out . Total Bullshit. If you have a 2021 with issues call Can Am corporate and let them know you want to be compensated for your down time and trouble. Here is there number +1-888-272-9222

Hmmm, asks for help in the original post, then asks again 9 days later in a sarcastic manner because the "tech" from the dealer has it all figured out. Was this not the whole point of your thread, to get help? You trust a "tech" from your dealer, who is likely some high school kid, but not someone who has had several of these engines apart? I appreciate the lesson on crank sensors, lucky for me, I knew that about 20 years ago. Hope you don't send me a bill because I won't be paying it. To add to your crank sensor lesson, the sensor is simply a magnet that detects the fins on the flywheel. Maybe I'll send you a bill now, what's your address?

The other thing you got right is I am an asshole, there is no doubting that. I asked if they changed a sensor, which I wouldn't put it passed a dealer to not to, because its easy to do. It could very well be the flywheel, but it just doesn't make sense to jump to that before changing the sensor out. The only way it's the flywheel is if its bent or distorted in a way the magnetic sensor becomes too far from it and can no longer read it. Which I personally find hard to believe but its possible. I really hope you have to wait several months to get a new flywheel just to have someone open up your new engine and find out its a sensor.

Absolutely try crank sensor first, if that doesn’t work, check ecu signal with lab scope, if all good check depth between crank sensor and tone ring teeth. If okay update ecu calibration. If that fails go to flywheel/tone ring. Find another dealer you can trust to follow that process.

Thanks for clarifying that I am right with your pics . The timing marks on the flywheel were machined incorrectly thus throwing off the timing. I am plenty knowledgeable about engines and how they work . I asked for help from someone who has a 2021 and has had similar problems. Not a bench racer who spouts crap off with no knowledge of what’s going on .

I bet its a software malfunction
could the flywheel been made wrong yes
like with too much advance
the software could be is misreading the crank speed
resulting in a false misfire

Well I found my problem . After sitting in a dealership for 40 days and frustrated I pulled the car out . After speaking with a Factory Can Am racer and a rental company who had 21’X3s It was narrowed down to the flywheel. Flywheels for 21s are 120 units back ordered . It was suggested that I convert back to 18-20 charging system . Pulled the cover and as I guessed the flywheel was coming apart . The reluctor wheel was missing a tooth and coming apart from the flywheel . Swapped stator , Flywheel ,
Voltage regulator. And charging wire harness and the car runs like new !! Car had under 5 miles on it when I started getting codes and just got worse . It would only go into limp mode at 40-55 mph . Nothing less or nothing more . Just wanted share my issue . Can am is aware of this and it would be nice if there is a recall . As time goes on I am sure more 21s will have this issue .

The 22s have the same stator as the 21s, the different is with the updated part. Each company has there flaws, POS 1000s have a shitty oil pump system and trans, but great air filter system, easy to get at and stay pretty clean . Can am X3 has terrible air filter system, it is told BS to get to air filter ,Engineer should be fired that came up with the clutch and turbo air filtration system. Now they have problems with the flywheel. I would take a XRS RR over a POS 1000S any day of the week. . I got a 5 year warranty and couldn't wait 1 and 1/2 months for them just to change the plugs. Yes I paid a lot 33g, but if u want to pay u going to pay. F-cking sucks right now because no body wants to work because of the LIB BS going on.. Sorry for the rant, end of the day cost me $900 and I have a 5 year warranty.

Sucks but it's a miss fire code and needs to go to the dealer being so new. So many things can cause this and the dealer will likely not do shi* as they will just pump parts at it. Might be very simple but way to many thing throw this code.

Dag on dealer is 2.5 hrs away what a bummer
How can I reset the code.
It stays in limp mode after shutdown
At this time, no handheld tuner can reset fault codes on your year car. Technically you can purchase a hacked BUDS system online. BRP doesn't sell this device BUT it will help reset codes and diagnose issues.
I will never sell my 2020 car as I have full access to the ECM with my handheld.

Thanks for the ideas the dealer told me to put it on the battery charger so I did then I restarted it and held down the override button and the code went away When I get back home tonight I'm gonna try and drive it And see if it comes back.
I don't think there's any side-by-side performance shops around here There's probably only 3 of these Mavericks in my whole county

These cars come with what is effectively a motorcycle battery and when their voltage is low all kinds of faults pop up. I don't know if that is the problem but it wouldn't surprise me if it was. I got away with the stock battery for more than two years but I think is was only luck. Don't be shocked if you need a new battery for your brand new machine.
