No that's not good, having plastic pieces floating around in the engine can and will plug up small passages in the oiling system starving oil to the bearings. I am surprised you did not hear the noise this cover was making bouncing around in the engine.

that yellow plastic thing is the oil splash guard
helps keep the oil out of the vent
that one is junk, they just snap on gear closest to the vent

well as of last night the car is running again, i'm going to bleed the coolant system tonight and see if the head gasket has been fixed, the head needed .008 removed for it to be flat, could of been my problem for sure at that kind of gap, under boost the exhaust gasses could push into the coolant. I also found a bad hydraulic lifter while we were rebuilding the head, probably what caused the back fire.

this has been a most interesting rebuild

225 is not overheating, just hot

Well i drove the car tonight, still 225° after running it hard....im at my whits end
Keep in mind water boils at 220 F at sea level.

We use pressure caps to keep the water from boiling over at a higher temperature.

My point is that while 225 may be hotter than you would like depending on the conditions such as altitude, ambient air temps and load, on and in the vehicle, 225 may not be unreasonable.

If you're driving like miss daisy at sea level with an empty car on flat ground it's higher than I would expect.

If you're driving at 7k altitude and have a 4 seater loaded going up a hill WFO then it's lower than I would expect.

I'm not sure 225 means there is something wrong. It's barely higher than the boiling point of water.

JMHO
