yeah wide open throttle won’t go over 40 it doesn’t show that it is on limp mode

There is no other codes and my smart lock does not work but the car was running good before

 

I think the computer is in some kind of reduced power mode due to the code (not actual engine limp). need to get it checked by someone with the software/hardware to check it.

How old is the battery? has it ever done dead? or been really low?

it has a 2 year old battery and it has been low before

Is there a possibility that you’re using the ECO key?

 

Inst the limit around 60 on the "normal" key?

 

the keys are "Normal" and "Performance" driving modes are "Eco" and "Sport"

 

Isn't there a Rental Key also?

 

What does the dash say/scroll when you go to start it?

It’s says performance key

 

His are Gray (white) and Green... They all came as Green = Normal , Gray = Performance on the 2020's.. unless they have been programmed differently.

 

Does anyone know why my x3 will not go over 40 at first it topped out to 30mph and I saw on some forums that could be the belt so swapped it, only difference it made was it let me go to 40mph, I checked my seat belt bypass and it’s working, reset the car still nothing y’all have any ideas on what it can be ? It’s not on limp mode it does have a code for smart lock but I don’t think that would effect anything

he said he tried another belt (speed went up to 40 vs 30). The code is likely the issue.

 

Car was totaled over a year ago sat for the year it was getting turned on and off here and there got a whole frame swap everything was fine took it to a second mechanic got a full service done on it was told it was good besides the smart lock being out, went out to glamis for a first ride and that’s is where I encountered this problem and now I’m here trying to find the problem

 

The plot thickens... So was the battery ever dead after you got it? ever turn over real slow?

I agree, sounds like a LOT of possible causes/issues.

 

Like they said could be may things wrong with it. Try Changing spark plugs and check ground connections.

 

I checked the grounds there was 2 disconnected in the front but still doing the same thing, I am going try changing the spark plugs and see what happens

 

When did you find these ground not hooked up?

 

I suggest putting new plugs in it also.... Don't pull/clean/gap them... Put new plugs.

 

What’s wrong with the smart lock? It’s controlled by a computer module. Electrical gremlins.

Are you the original owner? Did it ever go faster than 30-40 since you've had the car (before it was totaled, perhaps)?

 

Yes I’m the owner the car was going 80 when it was totaled

the frame was damaged

 

So it DID go over 30-40 prior to being rebuilt. Has it ever gone faster since the rebuild, or has it never worked right since that? Sounds like whoever "fixed" it after being totaled fell woefully short.
