I have a 2015 Maverick that makes a grinding or popping noise and won’t catch high, it doesn’t do it when you shift to low or reverse. If you put it in high and you baby it for a sec it will catch and then you can run it as normal. I have checked the linkage for the shifter and it is adjusted correctly. Anyone have any ideas…. I’m leaning towards a clutch but don’t want to spend the money and it not be the issue.

Pull your center engine cover and with the engine off, work the shifter from P to L several times watching the cable sheath crimp at the shifter. If you see the crimped end of cable sheath moving any, then either try to stake the metal crimp better, or buy a new cable if it moves.

** Oh yeah....Welcome!
