group rides and clubs near me ?

I'm looking for people to ride with. I am old in years but new to this sport and as in the past I am looking to find people with more knowledge than myself. I have been a mechanic my whole life so I don't need anyone to hold my hand. I'm located in nor cal near Auburn. I am self employed so I can take week days off and more than willing to drive 12 hours for a good ride. I am planning a trip to Glamis in a couple weeks since that looks like mecca to me. I hope the heat isn't unbearable.

X2! Don't go alone, don't go in the summer, it will probably be unbearable. Glamis dune season usually opens on Halloween, and stretches past Spring Break. There will be plenty of times to ride at Glamis…..

I kind of figured that. Any better ideas for a place where I can dry camp preferably near water. I am supposed to meetup with an acquaintance I think near sedona. I am kind of committed and wish I wasn't going in july but that's life.

Near Sedona not a lot of water, but the cinders is a nice place near Sedona during the summer, just no water. Tim

Go to northern Nevada. There are RV parks in both Hawthorne and Mina that have full hook-ups and have no problem with riding right out of camp.

There are 1000s of miles to ride and lots of Ghost towns to explore. Do a Google search for Mina Merc, Silverdyke, Aurora, and Orizaba.

I just got back from Idaho dunes last Sunday; I would have invited you there. Do yourself a favor and don't go to Glamis in the summer. It's unbearable. Plan a trip to St. Anthony's or Winchester Bay in Oregon. You'll have a much better time without the heat.

I'm planning a few day trips this summer. I'll send you a PM to see if we can get some miles on that rig.

I'm an hour from truckee. Let me know if you want company next time. I am about 3 miles from the trailhead in Dutch flat. I am told you can do fire roads all the way to the Rubicon.
