    XRC for Wisconsin Trails?

    Hello Everybody,

I've convinced my wife we need a side by side. I am stuck trying to decide between the Sport 1000R and the Sport XRC models.

Would the XRC make a good all around trail machine for Wisconsin trails, or is it too focused on just crawling? The trails here are some pavement, gravel, packed dirt with a few rocks and roots and a bit of mud. I've watched about every video I could find on youtube and they are mostly just rock crawling with it. The only down side I can think of is that it is geared lower and I might we running it at higher RPM's all the time. The regular sport is loud enough already. Does anyone know how much lower the gearing is than the regular sport model? Unfortunately there isn't any XRC models near me that I can test drive. Maybe that's a sign it's not the best machine for this area. lol

Any other input would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks,

    Scott

Not sure where in Wisconsin you are but the XRC is a full 64” vs the standard sport is 60”. Most of our trails allow full 64” machines but many of them still seem a bit tight to me when I meet someone with a full size machine. Not a lot of rock crawling to be had in north western Wisconsin so you wouldn’t gain much here. You may have a different riding area though.

It would be foolish not to buy the xrc. It has smart lock...

I run alot of northern WI. trails and I purchased the sport 1000R, I think the XRC would be over kill, geared too low in my opion , plus the added costs.

The X RC has many upgrades from the Sport. We went with a 1000R Sport Max for trail riding and seating for 4. But I can see were the RC version would suit my trails in Moab real nice

For general trail riding, any of the models in the CanAm line up will work. But what else will you be asking it to do? How thick is your wallet?
    Good Luck

Better stability with xrc, it’s 64” wide. Not sure but the other sport models are on 60” wide I think. Plus smart lock plus winch plus better shocks. I would go drive both to make sure u don’t have buyers remorse. If you read a lot on here you will find a bunch of guys that bought cheap then spend a fortune trying to make their machine like the next upgraded model. They’ll buy different a arms , shocks ect, ect just to make it better but if they would have bought what they wanted they would be done upgrading and just ride it. Trust me I’m doing it right now. Bought an x3 Xmr turbo r 72” and wished I’d had bought the Xrs or xrc sticky for the shocks.

Sport xmr and xrc are 64" and have smart lock and the regular spot is 60" and doesn't have smart lock either xmr or xrc would be the way to go if you're buying a sport in my opinion

Other than if your looking for a 4 seater, the Xmr and xrc only come in 2 seaters.

Thank you for all of the great input!

I think I am leaning towards the XRC. It just has a lot of great features like smart lock, winch, full skids and that cool blue color.

The good news is I found a dealer that has both models so I can test drive them back to back. I just need to find time to make a 7 hour round trip to do it before they get sold.
