21 Day Phoenix to the East Coast Ride

Sometime in September, BEFORE the first snow in the Rockies - anyone is welcome to ride and the company would be appreciated.

Probably leave Phoenix at daybreak and camp around Jacob Lake the first night. Then up past Bryce Canyon into the high country, and EAST to Moab.

Then over the Rockies just south of Telluride and across the panhandle of Oklahoma to the Ozark’s of Arkansas and over the Tennessee Smoky Mountains to North Carolina.

A well maintained and freshly serviced machine with new tires and a functional radio would be advised.

Camping most of the time with an occasional cabin or motel for showering and recharging.

Should take around three weeks if everything goes well.

Sounds pretty impressive! You have all the routes mapped out? Is there any bridge over the Mississippi that allows SXSs? Have a great time, take plenty of pics.

    you are my hero.

Whats the plan at the end? hire a trailer to bring car back and fly home? Rent a Uhaul and shove it in the back?

Haven’t planned for getting back YET - probably U-Haul/Budget/Penske OR a one-way RV with a U-Haul trailer behind it.

It hard to plan for the return trip in advance since I never really know exactly where I’ll end up.

Envious. That would be so cool, but no way will my back handle the long ride let alone the camping part.
Time machine, take me back to 2006 (with my X3 instead of the Rhino I had / still have).
Hall of Fame entry right there. In the Motorcycle would, an "Ironbutt" ride is 1000 miles in less than 24 hours. Done that several times, well over a million miles on my Harley's.

I’m GETTING them mapped out now - it’ll be around 90% dirt or gravel roads.

There IS a way across the Mississippi- May have to sneak across in the middle of the night, but I’ll get across .

Getting across Colorado without going into populated areas for gas may be difficult - need a 250 mile range to avoid the eight mile jaunt into Telluride.

Ten extra gallons OUGHT to do it.

I believe this may be your only "stuck" area. I can just see law enforcement, tv crews, and the like. Just plead insanity, you'll probably get away with it, LOL! Good luck.
