I went the same way the OP is thinking of going, and ended up having to do it over again. I didn't think I needed an expensive light bar because I never really rode at night. That theory held up....until I had to ride at night!
My "a-ha" moment came when I was in Baja, pitch black, trying to navigate back to Horsepower Ranch. I ended up just turning my "el-cheapo" light bar off as it was doing me no good. When I got back to the hotel I took a hard look at what literally EVERY other X3 was running in our group. (hint, quality lights!)
I stole their ideas and bit the bullet and went with the KC Hiliters up top with two Baja Designs Squadron Pro's ambers on the bumper. Could have saved myself some money if I would have just gotten good lights before I actually needed them. I still have PTSD of that night when I couldn't see sh%t in the middle of nowhere, with my 11 year old next to me trying to get to the hotel safely.

I bought a "cheap" light bar off amazon about 4yrs ago. I think I paid $120. I have put it through complete hell this whole time. It actually just fell off my bucket truck grill yesterday. It's VERY bright and all led's still work. I wouldn't write off the "cheap" lights.

The one I bought is no longer available but it was this one.

Autofeel 32 Inch 180w PHILIPS LED Light Bar Flood Spot Combo Beam ATV SUV UTE

With that being said... I'm extremely happy with the one that came on my probox top. Dang thing sends the darkness running with it's tail between the legs!

My I ask... what do the amber do on the front bumper? Do they cut dust and fog?

Amen brother! Used to be a Rigid guy, but sheer brightness Baja Designs definitely brighter. You can't go wrong with either. Just like Rugged vs PCI, they both have followings.
