    X3 Stereo/Gauge Illuminaton Wiring Question

    Hey guys:

Sorry for the noob question, but is there a factory illumination/"dashlight" lead that I could tap and daisy chain to the aftermarket radio and a few gauges? I know there is a stereo option for the X3, so I figured there might be a lead buried somewhere?

No need to be "sorry" to ask a question that hadn't been asked a thousand times and could be found doing a simple search.
Depends on if you want the power on only with the car running or full time (switched).
What year & model are you asking about ?

2018 X3 X RS Turbo R. On/off for power isn't an issue. I just trying to nail down what wire is for the illumination trigger (e.g., when the switch is flipped to turn on the headlights, the gauges and radio will illuminate).

If you go to the center pole on the bus bar it only powers on with the key so anything attached to it will power up with the key ,it not for heavy load applications but can be used to trigger a relay you could tap into the lead running to the power port on top of the dash if you just want illumination on stereo or?

the easiest way without the manual is to just find the hot wire when the light's are switched on with a test light coming off the headlight switch to tap into if you only want power when the lights are on?
